Russia No Korea Pipeline..For S Korea.

Post by Scrat »

The N Korean President recently made a visit to Russia. Seems Russia wants to build a gas line to So Korea through their northern neighbor. This holds much potential for drama in the future. :sneaky:

It seems that a lot has been going on in N Korea this last year or so. China is investing billions, Russia not as much but still investing in all forms. Sad that America has nothing to offer to get in on this opportunity. I wonder if we have anything the N Koreans would want?:yh_rotfl

We'll buy the gas from Russia if need be. N. Korea has no economy to speak of so there's no exporting or importing to do that I know of.

Fill me in if you don't mind.

The opportunity to sell American goods to North Koreans!! It's a potential market right? I mean the place is crawling with Chinese building contractors and the customs plazas at the borders are stuffed with goods of all kinds going over the border. Hell, if you look around the internet you can find all kinds of videos with N Koreans driving new Hyudais and KIAs. Why not Fords and Chevys too?

If you think that N Korea has no economy you need to do some studying. From non western (non biased) sources.

If I'm misinformed perhaps you could direct me to better sources?

From Wikipedia (is Wikipedia okay?)The economy of North Korea is an industrialized and centrally planned economy.

North Korea's economy remains one of the world's last centrally planned systems. The role of market allocation is sharply limited – mainly in the rural sector where some peasants sell produce from small private plots. There are almost no small businesses.

Korea as a whole is rich in natural resources and could, together, be a very strong economy if the North were to at least begin to cease it's dependence on it's military (I know, Spot, Americans should talk). The fact is though that even the U.S.'s spending on military is only just below 5% of GDP while North Korea's is at 25%, and it's people have to donate clothing and food to their military troops to boot.

So they just roll over and become a vassal of the west? It seems to me some peoples of the world don't want to do that. If everyone would mind their own business this problem would have been solved long ago. Why is there no peace treaty after all this time? Americas meddling?

Let the 2 Koreas solve their own problems. Get the American military out of the country to start with.

The political moods of the Korean peninsula affect the economies of the entire region.

South Koreas attitude towards N Korea and subservient posture to us is no way to run a country.

Say what you want about NK, it has potential and others are able to look past the dogma and find ways to benefit from it. America can't do that apparently.
