Even proper biodegradable ones ?

What is ten years in the life of the planet, besides a child skidding on dogs kack while playing ?

Depends where I am.... In a public place... of course I pick It up with bag and find the bin... but out In the countryside where there are no bins anyway, If It's by a hedgerow, I leave It.... can't see kids playing In some of the places I take my dogs for a yomp.... If I pick It up and bag It, there's no bin anyway which could be the answer the Bryn's question.

It's nothing to do with you, oscar, it's that I'm sick to the back teeth with bloody dog owners allowing their stinking hounds to crap on the Downs. I don't give a damn whether they then pick the **** up or not, it makes the entire place impossible to let preschool children play on. Birds and wildlife I can cope with, it's the volume of dogshit I'm talking about. I rarely walk there for five minutes without seeing well over twenty dogs being "walked" - a euphemism for toileted.

If I walked my dogs on the Downs, I would pick up their poo as I am aware the area Is used by the public. I do not walk my dogs on The Downs, never have and never will.

My dogs are not 'toileted'... they are exercised.

They are put In the car and driven to area's of the South Glou countryside that do not see the general public.

Take your anger out on the people who abuse the Downs... not someone who has never used them for dog walking and never would.

eta... the entire reason I have an Estate car... Dogs

That doesn't leave the grass in an hygienic state though, does it. Bagging is not even a step toward acceptability. Not crapping on the grass is a great solution.

The underlying problem is that you finance the existence of more domesticated animals than would exist if you behaved ethically. Where they spread their diseases is a secondary issue. If they're not infecting children on the Downs they're infecting wildlife in your oh-so-convenient hedgerow toilet.

On a more serious note I can understand Spots objection. I know he's not particularly a dog lover from what I remember but all the same he's right. Control of ones dogs "goings on " is as important as any other dog control issues. The level of filth in public places as a result of bad ownership is a disgrace. I'd like to see a hefty fine for those caught allowing their dog to run free and fouling parks or pavements. You're not fit to own a dog if you allow it to "give birth to a 7lb weasel" willy nilly

And dont get me started on the stuff that comes out of the wrong end of a fox. I have to deal with that stuff on a daily basis where I am working at the moment.

Depends on the owners... Most are reasonably responsible and will clear up.... my own area considering the amount of dogs walked In the field outside my house Is surprisingly clean.

The Downs In Bristol that Spot wants kept clean Is mentioned here:

Doggers And Dogging In Gloucestershire

Bristol

Clifton Downs near the centre of Bristol is a good (late night only) dogging location. Ladies mile is the main road for it and "sea walls" is popular with gays cruising. Follow signs for Bristol Zoo. "The Downs" is the large park/common adjacent to it.

Actually, It appears to be very well mentioned on the Internet....

You see there we have It... It horses for courses.... I have absolutely no objection to consenting adults having sex In the great outdoors even on area's where children play during the day time so I don't expect anyone to object to my dog having a crap along a hedgerow In deep countryside that Is not used by the public....

On a point of information, the Council keeps a section of the Downs unmown so as to provide outdoor fornicators with a couple of feet of privacy once they're prone. The long grass stays child-free at all times, the two groups never overlap.

Toxocariasis can cause blindness In children true. But It's actually rare due to the parasite not lasting long once It's been excreted. Again, It's down to responsible dog owners. It won't happen with dogs who are regually wormed...

We had three dogs when I was a child that I was tasked to clean up after and I've stepped bare footed in dog crap more times than I care to count. I'm 54 and still relatively healthy.

I'd rather have dog poop in the parks than human body fluids spooged on a lawn later to be stepped in by children. Maybe I'm close minded.

Really? I doubt "nature" foresaw the variety of sexually transmitted diseases that have mutated over several generations just in the last century. Name some amazing dog diseases that have killed humans lately?

HIV infection from syringe needlestick or other blood transmission, yes. From vaginal or anal intercourse, yes. From oral sex, allegedly in one case in twenty years though I don't know anyone who believes it was correctly reported. From the external application of semen to scratched or to undamaged skin, absolutely zero. By all means show me a report of such an event.

Or did you have a different STI in mind?

Regarding dog crap, "killed" and "unsafe" are different words.

No, in remote areas then, as long as it's not in the middle of the path, leave it. I was talking about local public places and those who are too lazy to carry a poo bag a couple of hundred yards until the next bin.

So let me see if I understand this correctly. You're advocating gay sex, unprotected or otherwise, over dog elimination in public parks because you apparently think grass should be sterile for children playing upon it?

You know birds **** on grass as well, right? Lets list the diseases they spread.

Grass that hasn't been shat on. The sort of grass I'd be happy to let preschool children play on, which has seen neither dogs nor fornicators. I refer you back to my Long Grass No Children comment as far as their wiping their little heels in semen goes. That doesn't happen. Neither should they be exposed to grass on which the products of defecation have lain.
