Policy regarding links in profiles and visitor messages

Post by FG-administator »

The site has accumulated spam links in areas which can't be checked by mods. I've made a wholesale indiscriminate removal of them from all profiles and visitor messages, including links which pointed to members' legitimate home pages.

If anyone wants to replace respectable home page links they may but members are warned that another such scan would take them out again and may happen whenever circumstances dictate. My process can't tell good from bad.

Don't worry, I still have it saved in my Favorites list.

Now that the immediate aftermath surrounding these links has subsided I note that I'm minded to publish here the full correspondence relating to it in a week or two. The email exchanges were, from my point of view, unsatisfactory. Leaving the story in permanent public view will act as a counterbalance.
