...........I sit here in the dark with my lap top glowing. The nurses are laughing in the hall way--Probably Nurse "whatshername" getting ready to give an enema...Boy I bet that ol horse of a woman loves that job...
As I was out walking earlier, I heard a man crying. His wifes room was directly across from the Nurses Station..The critical patients are there...I see the worry in his face and he is alone...I wonder to myself where his family is? where is his support system? They always tell us that we are never alone in this...but are we?
When I was walking past the peds area..I see a lil boy. I believe his name is Alex. He looks to be about 5 or maybe 6. He looks to be my sons age. I smile at him and show him my silly face...only to keep from crying because I miss my own Rory so very much...He laughs at me as he runs back down the hallway. He sports a Harley Davidson dew rag..it is rather large for his small bald head..but I am sure it must be a gift from his father?, grandfather?, unlce?..one never knows...I stand by the door, as I watch the nurse run from room to room. In the adult unit, they don't run...but I am sure that these big eyed children have much more to give the world then us..We have spent half our lives living......these young things have just begun..and what a terrible way to begin a life, don't you think? As I turn and begin to leave, I hear a "hey..don't you read to Ally?".....and I am surprised by a teenager standing there. I wondered how old you have to be to be put in our area..but certainly its hard to tell what age she is...her eyes are sunken and her hair is gone..She wears nothing on her beautiful round head...I say "yes, I do..sometimes..." She says to me that she is her room mate now. I ask where Sarah went? She tell me, that she was moved to ICU and isn't coming back...I say with a cracked hopeful voice.."Oh -its never over till the fat lady sings sweetie..and I am the FAT LADY---and it'll make your ears hurt to hear me sing"...She looks at me with hard eyes......and then finally a grin..."Yeah, your probably right"...We sit for awhile and play 3 card Rummy...She tells me she has had Carcinoma for 5 years and they can never seem to get it under control. She said she was going to go to the prom this year with the neighbor boy down the road, but she got sick at the last minute..she also said she missed her older brothers graduation last week...But she is quite chipper when our conversation ends...we covered everything from her hating math to their school combining with another, just to stay open.... Soon the nurse comes looking for her. Its past 10 and I suppose they should all be in bed.. We both put our masks back on -as there is a scare of Mumps here again...and we head back to our rooms...I hope to meet her again and we smile at each other...she asks if her mom doesn't make it up tomorrow if maybe I could play cards with her again...I say yes...even though I was going to be released to go to my brothers in the morning...I am thinking I will be staying and playing some cards and maybe reading a little to Ally...I had just gotten some new books from my friend who works for Readers Digest, (Books Are Fun).........so there will be my Friday...and I am not upset about it at all......... Happy Weekend to you all..........:-4 (by the way.I didn't post this to be told how sweet I am. I posted this because I am terrifically bored and you'll told me to keep you posted!) :p I love to write can you tell.....maybe I should write and send it to OPRAH! Yeee haw.....:-2

You, have eyes that see things placed before you, while on a tough journey we wish you didnt have to make. There are those who would see nothing. This ability is one of the many qualities that make you unique and special. While you fight for yourself, you are helping others also. Anyone who has crossed paths with you during this difficult time, has been fortunate. Your ability to love knows no bounds and we are fortunate to have you let us see through your eyes.

Wow . . . exactly what Weeder said.
Mom, that was heartwarming, heartbreaking . . . and ultimately uplifting.
It is a pleasure to read what you are writing.
My most sincere good thoughts are being sent your way.

Oh MOM. I don't have any wise words, only that you brought back a flood of emotions when you mentioned the masks and mumps threat... I remember going for 3 months with my very young daughters keeping them from visiting their grandpa because measles had broke out at their school. Because he was going through extensive chemo, they had to stay away just "incase" they contacted measles. Such a crappy feeling. And the girls could not understand it.
Awww MOM we are so glad you are able to keep in touch with us.

Mom, seems like you are full of good deeds.
May all this goodness and kindness come right back to you.
