I know that when you loose someone who you love, you can go on living. My biggest problem is that it is really hard for me to watch him waist away. He is taking it real good. I'm the one who isn't. I don't know what I want to say, I do know that I'm going to bust open if I can't talk. Please someone help.

I had no idea either so I went looking.
ALS stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis , and is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis , or Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive, neurodegnerative disease. It affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, and results in muscle weakness and atrophy. As the disease progresses, it affects speech, swallowing, chewing and breathing. The senses of sight, touch, hearing, taste and smell are not affected.

OMG Peg, this is a terrible disease. (grammy) yes you need all the help you can get. there has to be societies and places to learn about the disease and treat it, holistic-natural remedies? today we have more chances of a better life than before? my mother had MS, onset at 28 and died @ 43 in 1976. things were different back then. Do all you can & take good care of yourself! very important.

Sorry to get off the topic here, but my sister-in-law has MS Paula. It's a shame that they didn't have the treatments back then that they do now. It must have been tough on you and your whole family.

Peg, friggin MS i cannot tell you how nasty it is! I was tested as a young woman to see if i had an tendencies for the disease. My mother was one of five daughters the 4th child, she had complete different hair and eye color from sisters. MS is different for everyone, my mother had a BAD case of it. She was in a wheelchair when i was about 10? It was hell on us all. My father was an over the road trucker who wasn't sleeping during the night caring for her, it was hell.
