I'm no longer suffering in a warehouse. I've just heard the good news! I'll be starting my new job as a respiratory nurse April 4th! I'll be working in a 'roll your sleeves up, into it up to your elbows' kind of hospital! For the NHS of course. :-6

Thank you LC! I belong in a hospital. It's been my career calling since I was a kid. These past two years away from it, have just about done me in!

Thanks GDH! It's a career I've enjoyed very much. I'm kind of suprised at how much I've missed it. After 16 years, I thought I could just walk away. But I cant. Theres something deep inside that keeps calling me back. So I must follow my heart, back to the hospital wards, I go! :-6

Ah, but the peace of working for yourself!
I know EXACTLY what you mean by being married to your job! Thankfully, me and my 'spouse' are reconciling. :yh_bigsmi

I'm so excited about this! Working within the NHS is a very cool thing! Just my kind of place! Overburdened, underfunded, which means the healthcare delivered there is raw and fresh! It takes tough soldiers (metaphorically speaking) to do good work in a setting like that. The facility that I'll be working in, is a teaching hospital. Even better! That atmosphere always keeps you on your toes, and at the 'head of the class'! I'm ready to learn it the english way, but I promise to put an american twist to it! Look out England, here I come! :yh_hugs

Congratulations.
Something from your story in another thread made me chuckle, I have my cigarettes taken away from me on shift, I'm currently working in gastro.
Question you always get asked by non-smoking senior nurses is "How do you give health education on the dangers of smoking when you smoke yourself?" My future answer will be, go ask a respiratory nurse :wah:

lol! My answer to that question has always been 'it's a rule!' I never go to work without having my trusty bottle of febreeze with me. Cant be taking care of patients who are craving, whilst smelling like smoke, can we?
