It's not *men*, it's, well, erm... I can't really think of a polite term.

I do not think he even thought of it before, I explained what would I tell my students, I fibbed to them yesterday? He did not realize it, I do not know why he didn't..............
snooze, I will think about the e-mail, I am fearful of keeping my job. I would hate to change schools for some reason.
I've been thinking about this a little. You can't do much, really, without rocking
the boat rather *too* much. I think you'll have to make your feelings to old
matey known to him, and that's about it. You will have to tell your class the
truth, or thereabouts, in your most schoolmistressy way....
"I'm sorry about *our* pumpkin (that Mr. Scienceteacher bought for us)." (if
they know about the latter). "Mr. Matey thought it was OK to take it home,
and made a mistake, because it was too early, as you know. He is very
sorry for the mistake. I am sorry too, for fibbing - I did not know what had
happened to it, and did not want you to be disappointed.".
They will think you're *OK*, and won't take up arms against Mr. Matey, 'cos
he's "sorry for his mistake" (!). Mr. Matey won't go loopy because you made
him look like the sad sack of sht that he may well be. Mr. Scienceteacher
knows it wasn't your fault, or doing, and will form his own opinion of Mr. Matey.
At some point it may be possible to make it up to the class, especially if they've
another year at your school.

I agree with Bill except for one thing...the teacher himself should pop in and offer his apologies for taking THIER pumpkin without asking.
A lesson to be learned for the kids...that adults make mistakes too, and do apologize. And that it is OK for an adult to apologize to a young'un!!

The Case of the Missing Pumpkin
The teacher did come in all day long to make sure the kids knew the pumpkin was back, and apologized many times to me. He was even scared by days end I would change teams next year, and asked me at lunchtime if I was planning on staying and teaching science. (he knows the principal already asked for me to teach Spanish for 8th grade) I told him I wanted to stay, and pass the Board exams next year in science and that I enjoyed being in 6th grade.
I think he talked to the students in his classroom, they settled down, they had their pumpkin. And I will be wise next year, and have it kept locked up until the appointed day.

The Case of the Missing Pumpkin
Oh my, those are interesting replies!
I know the science teacher went down and gave it to him, when I was up at the office during my prep. He might have ratted him out, I don't know.
I am laughing at the putting the pumpkin guts in his desk.........................:wah:

At least you can take heart in that its a lesson well learned. Next year you'll KNOW to keep it locked up. It's also good that the teacher who gave it to you knows what happened to it!
