A Frog in the Garden

Post by Linio »

Hi Everybody.

I'm Linio.

As said in the title i'm a little french guy (not that it matters whatsoever but my english grammar may be a little fuzzy sometimes, so don't hesitate to correct me if i say something stupid).

What else can I say?

I'm 24, I study computer sciences and microelectronics, and I like tv shows.

If you want to know more, i'm open to every question you may have.

Tell me what micro electronics involves, how teeny of components are we talking about?

Welcome to the garden by the way :)

The smallest I guess.

I have a formation on the CMOS technology, semiconductors, etc...

I don't know if that rings a bell... ?

Well actually it's not my real formation, i'm a computer scientist (ain't no english word for 'informaticien'...), this is my last year of studies so I've taken a course in electronics cause that's the part I prefer (well at least the part I hate the least) in computer science.

ah yes semiconductors does ring a bell with me, I order those and a whole load of other electronic components in my job, just wasn't sure if they were micro or not

I gotta say it's starting to grow on me, although I'm a little scare by the environment.

Lots of rumors about lots of people not liking very much the frenchs.

(the micro is just refering to the size of the component, in 'micrometer', but it's the metric system so i don't know the equivalent in errr... well you system :))

Oh...

Where did you went?

Paris I suppose...

Indeed there's a lot of great place to see but like US I guess.

I'd love to go visit one day...

(By the way, I see you all have little flags under your avatars, how can I do that to?)

well we started in Paris and then went to Lyons, Avignon (not sure on the spelling but it's where the French Popes lived), Nice, Carcasone, and Tours..

I think if you fill out your location in your profile it adds the flag automatically..

Carcassonne, just south or where I live.

There's a lot of story about this place like once, the city was under siege for a long time, the attacking force was sure they were short on food, water, and ready to surrender, but a woman had the idea to throw a chicken above the surronding wall, to lure the ennemy in believing they still had enough to wait for reinforcements.

(For the Location, I guess he doesn't like mine :( )

2:45AM, tomorrow the alarm is set to 6:30AM... A short night sleep I guess...

(Canada, Another country I'd like to visit! One day, one day (when I have enough money to do the trip!)

Hello and welcome.

I will admit that I am one of those who will take the mickey (tease) the French, as you know there is a centuries old tradition of our countries doing this and I'm very fond of tradition(!!).

But I hope that you will return this because I'd love to know what you think of us!

I hope that you enjoy your time in the garden and have fun.

Hey some french!

Merci de votre acceuil ;)

I gotta say about the teasing, i was partially joking, I know everybody has reasons to say or do some things.

I was just amused for example by the topic on foreign country about the tax put by Chirac on airplane travel, cause everybody was like: ekk i hate frenchs, but it's just one man's call. Actually I fond the tax stupid too.

About the views of french people on USA, it's relative. The image of an average american must be the same about the average french with his beret and his French Stick :)

French are mostly worried that their country is beginning to be a little USA due to the tremendous amount of american culture constantly flowing on TV, radio, etc...

American Culture, and American Food (which is the central point of worries, with all the health issues

Mostly these days and since several years, USA is reduced to one man: Georges W. Bush, not very kind to us. :)

I'm not of those people who categorize people by their country or anything else, but from what I can see, USA seems somehow a wild place to live in. And a place of many colors. In France I don't believe there are places as different as all the states from Los Angeles to New York.

So I won't tease (apart for some things, ok i admit, but you'll see ;))

Good, I hope you'll tease us as much as we'll tease you, it's the law here by the way, we have to wind up anyone from France or we get into trouble (!!!!)

I understand your point about France becoming Americanised, we are finding the same here. So many of our tv programmes are bought from the US that frequently I find myself correcting my daughter on the names she uses for things like saying pavement not sidewalk and nappy not diaper.

Whilst I admire America for many things I wish to remain British, that is unless Tony Blair stays on after the next election then I may re-think this:wah:

Looool.

So you're english (what about the flag ??)

Well at least in France we still have the language. French are lazy when learning another language is concerned. So at least everything go through traduction, but I guess for English people, if you take all as it is, with different words and different way of speaking too, it must be challenging to 'stay english' like you say.

Well everything is not so bad (great tv shows back there :))

If you go into my settings then select edit profile from the left hand side you can choose which country you are from and your flag should then be displayed.

I tried this and for a few seconds I was French!! Mon dieu! Zut alors!

I really should change my flag back shouldn't I lol

Please do, my French is really not tres bien at all!

It's a shame that we don't make more of an effort to speak other languages in this country but I think that is because of traces of empire mentality still remain.

Ca va très bien!

Dur dur de s'ajuster quand même, je navigue d'une page à l'autre, un coup Francais un coup English, dur dur de passer de l'un à l'autre rapidement, mais mon cerveau commence à s'y faire.

Ooops :)

I guess there's french speakers around here.

Is there a possibility to create a french topic or is that to narcissistictof me?

lol. You would be disapointed if you heard me, I speak like an american :)

(But being my mother langage I guess i'm the most qualified to speak like a true french frenchy (like my brother, he always cracks me out when he's having an english conversation)). I'm starting English again at school next week. It'll be fun I think, i'll try to record one of the classes :)
