Hello from Virginia
Hello I'm Wendy and new here (of course-:-5 duh). I am a very busy single Mom of 3 wonderful boys, I haven't filled in alot of my profile just yet, still figuring it all out...I work 2 jobs, so not much time for a social life, but love to relax at the computer. I haven't been here long, but looks like a nice place!! The scenery is fun!!

I've only got an internet cafe connection at the moment and it runs out in a few mins - but thanks for the kind comments. I do love Australia. Virginia's pretty nice too. I'm only nice myself actually until you see me the second or third time- then I revert to being mad, bad and dangerous to know... :sneaky:

Hello from Virginia
Thank you all for welcoming me, very nice...I think I'll like it here...Need to learn how to get the cool pictures on my posts...any suggestions...I'm really new to all this...
And to answer the question about the name Wendy for Peter Pan, that is what I've heard too, not so sure if true. I (showing my age here) was named after the song in the late 60's "Windy has stormy eyes" by The Association...Mom just threw an E in there... I know that isn't the name of the song, that would be a good trivia question...my guess would be "Everyone knows it's Windy"

Hello from Virginia
Who said I was from Richmond?? Are you stalking me?? I live near Richmond by about 50 miles but still don't know the answer to your question...Nomad...
Hello from Virginia
WonderWendy - Hey I see you've met Nomad!!! Grin. He's even madder, badder and more dangerous to know than moi!!! :sneaky: Love the song 'Windy'!!! I discovered it relatively recently... nice melody. I always thought 'Wendy' was a form of Guinevere, Genevieve, Jennifer. Originally celtic, meaning 'white wave'... but I'm blonde and may have invented that!!!

WW3 I Love your new avi! Did you see this sig? :wah:
I forgot Gwendolyn... I believe you Bendy, but still think JM B probably based the invented name on those others. Gwen, Gwenny... must be somehow linked. Just going to look it up.. By the way I also found mine...
PAMELA
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English
Pronounced: PAM-e-la [key]
The name was invented in the 16th century by the poet Sir Philip Sidney for use in his poem 'Arcadia'. He possibly intended it to mean "all sweetness" from Greek παν (pan) "all" and μελι (meli) "honey". Hey, I'm all honey...

WENDY
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English
Pronounced: WEN-dee [key]
Probably first used in J. M. Barrie's play 'Peter Pan' in 1904. It was from the nickname fwendy "friend", given to the author by a young friend. However, there is some evidence that the name may have been used prior to the play, in which case it could be related to the Welsh name GWENDOLEN or other names beginning with gwen meaning "white, fair, blessed".
------
Wikipedia
WENDY short form of GWENDOLEN, GENEVIEVE, JENNIFER or GUINEVERE. First used in J. M. Barrie's 'Peter Pan' in 1904.
