As soon as possible, since I have to rearrange the house to put the tree up..

After Christmas.
I usually wait about two weeks or until the tree starts to drop needles. I try to get as much out of the tree as I can.
If it's a plantable tree, again, we still wait about 2 weeks then plant it.

Here is my thing. I do not put up Christmas specific decorations..but I put out several snowmen which I keep out all winter.

I love snowmen - I found the cutest earrings at a Dec. craft fair, probably easy to make - pearl - crystal-pearl and a flat black type stone for his hat - cute as hell.
