That's pathetic all right but rather than label them "stupid Americans" how about calling them "stupid people?" Because you'll find clowns like these everywhere.

I don't watch the video inputs mostly, because they bother my computer.
Los Angeles, an axis of evil?
Please elucidate such a comment. (since I did not watch the video)
I am from Los Angeles, and two of my children still live there. No finer place on earth. I hopefully will retire there in ten years, I kept my home there to return to one day. It is a lovely place to be. It is what really keeps me going through the long days here, of cold winters, three jobs and endless rounds of nursing chores that will never end. I think of the warmth, the feel of the Santa Ana winds upon my face, the sounds and smells, and my family who waits for me there. Everyone knows how much I miss being there, it is like having a broken heart not to be there. And there is no way to mend it, until I return.
I will read the comments when I return from my errands. I can not speak for New York, but I am sure many others will. I have always thought highly of that city.
Thank you for your indulgence.

Interviewer - "Who won the Vietnam war ?"
girl on the street - "We did. oh hang on were we even in the Vietnam war?"
pretty much sums the video up chonsi
I'd like to know which Americans here know who John Howard is?
Thank you Magenta.
John Howard is the PM of Australia.
I do think a great majority of Americans would not know that, or read and watch the news enough. It is about the only thing, besides the weather, I watch on TV.
That is sad if they do not know about the Vietnam War. Many of my friends died in that war. :-1

The point is, she DID offer something to the "debate". Whether or not
you LIKE the offering doesn't matter. As long as the post was within
the TOS, then that's what you get.
Whatever "evil" is in California, we're trying our best to overcome it.
Some of it is on Death Row at this very moment.

That is why I don't teach history in public school anymore, but science. I teach history at college. Of course it ideological, everyone has their own ideas. I did not agree with theirs.
Novelty, my dear friend, your opening statement was:
TOS: Moron Society
It seems England is going the same way
Title: "California, New York are Axis of Evil"
With a video clip.
And that was all.

This is not the debate forum, it is under the category: People. Just a regular old thread. If you want to debate a specific issue, then please state it. A video clip doesn't work for me, I know I won't watch it. I don't watch most of them posted here at FG. What was the specific point you were trying to express?

Novelty, don't get snippy with me. If you want a debate then make a decent post stating you want a debate played on your own terms or else people might make the assumption you wanted comments. If you're going to be rude, make sure you've got the grounds to do so.
I'd like to have an inkling on how much YOU know about America and England, personally.

That isn't John Howard period.. :-5 Jay Leno does this bit at least once a week. Yes it is sad how so many people have no idea of current events, or history. But that doesn't make them bad human being... Just not brilliant ones.
I wound venture a guess that half the citizens in the US will never travel outside their own City or State ever in their life time. They are good decent people that will fight and protect your country when asked and they will lose their Son's and Daughter's and will be proud Americans and they should be.:yh_flag

It doesn't say that at all to me Novelty. Why is it important to know some of those facts??? Because you think it is?? I don't think it matters one damn bit for some one who lives in middle America to know who John Howard is... Their kids might because they are working their butts off sending them to College so them can have the education they never had.
Doesn't have a damn thing to do with being detached from reality.. it is what it is, and that is reality.
It's an assumption that society in America and England are becoming more and more detached with the real world...
I should have said: does anyone believe that society in America and England are becoming more and more detached with the real world.
The video is an example of being detached..
The photo's also the same..
You have a valid point Novelty and that is the way it should be. The reality is it will never be and it is a damn shame. Education is the only way out of some of our worlds biggest problems being the division between the rich and poor, and racism. :-5 It won't change in my lifetime maybe yours we can only hope.

Why should Parents have to work their butts off, shouldn't the same level of education be free to all? isn't that are right?
The price of education-study, and work hard. The same level of education of course differs among income areas. Is it right? Of course not. But, the attitude towards education has also changed.
Where is the respect given to education? It has changed within my lifetime. Students do not study as hard as we did, and expect more for less. I know this is so, because I see it on a daily basis.
Where is the respect towards educators? I don't see it anymore, and I work at a poverty-level school. And you know why I work there, Novelty? Because I asked to be there. Not at a magnet school, or a rich school. Because, as an educator, I believe we make the difference to many students. Even in tight times of money for myself and my family, I stay at my school. Because that is what I believe in.
If you want to debate with words, that is fine my dear.
When you wrote what you wanted to say, I could understand. A video does not represent your thoughts. I prefer your own words.

That may be a fair assumption when you're talking about young students, but adults have little excuse. The library is free. An education does not have to cost an arm and a leg. You get what you get when you're in school and it's usually served in the most tasteless way possible. When you're out of school, your education is your own responsibility and you can't blame it on the school system or your poor parents; you can only blame yourself for not sticking your nose in some books.
Carla makes a valid point. These people aren't "bad" people. Nor are they useless to society. What do they do? If the paramedic who's working on you or the cop or fireman who saved your life doesn't know Australia's history for example, you're not going to care much.

You also have to look at the situation that the people are in when these questions are asked.
Leno does most of his "Jaywalking" bits at Universal Studios. An Amusement park. People are there trying to have fun.
This guy, whoever he is, is walking up to people who look like they're out shopping.
The answers to the questions are not even on their minds.
I think most of them do know the answers though.

The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.
