Appologies, and won't be around for a bit.

Post by Delilah »

Hello to all.

Just wanted to let you know that I will not (hopefully) be around for a bit starting tomorrow, as I am quitting smoking starting tomorrow. In case I do end up here, and posting while I am temporarily insane for the next few weeks, I appologise in advanced for any bad or hurtful things I might say during that time, I will not be myself for a time.

Look forward to returning smoke-free. :)

Take care.

RedGlitter, I will hopefully get that item out to you in a few weeks. I haven't yet made it to the craft store to get those last couple of things to sew on, and I don't think I'll be able to concentrate in the next couple of weeks on it due to quitting smoking.

Good luck with painting, Rain!

Take care Patsy, I hope you are able to shake some doctors up.

Good wishes and thoughts to everyone. :-6

Unacceptable, we'd much rather you stayed and continued smoking.

But good luck with the battle.

When a situation arises and you feel you must have a ciggy....just ask yourself if the situation will change if you have a 'puff'......of course it won't and you'll just be sucked back into that old nicotine dependance again....don't let it win.

There's plenty of folks to give you support here...this is my 5th attempt at giving up....we're all 'rooting' for ya ;)

I'm using Boots own make of Nicotine chewing gum by the way...it tastes quite minty and not too unpleasant.....it's worth a try.

Good luck Delilah!! I'm actually goin to my doc today to talk to him about Chantix. It's a pill that you take to assist you with quitting. My best friend used it and has now been quit for 3 weeks without one single craving.

I've tried everything from the patches to cold turkey to hypnosis and nothing has worked. So, Chantix has become a last resort for me. I'll let ya know how it goes. If you need to rant tho, PM me girl and let it out. I know how hard it can be to try and do it in your own strength. Support is a must have.

:-4

I'm on Chantix. :D

You keep smoking for the first week you're on it, than on Day 8 is your quit day..and that's tomorrow for me. So we'll see if it has been doing anything I guess. I have been smoking less already though. I'll let you know how it goes!

Aww, thank you so so much everyone. I really appreciate your support.

I will try not to be online though, in case I go into super-biatch mode and just start spazzing out on anyone who happens by and I wind up getting myself banned. :lips:

One lapse doesn't make a failure - accept it as a setback and then carry on.

You're doing great - don't spoil it now :-6

I quit on the 2nd day of the year...almost 2 months now...It hasn't been easy...and my kids don't like me in the evenings...but it's worth it...:-6

I wish only the best of luck to you, and I think that if you can get here, we'll decide if you are hard to handle...I have a hard time believing that you'd get banned or say something that we couldn't handle...at least you have a valid excuse:lips:

:yh_clap and :yh_hugs to you...

Don't give up. Are you trying to give up cold turkey or what some sort of help?

Hi Delilah,

Take Bryn's advice- brush yourself off and start again! Work on cutting down. Think of it as cutting down. That's how I handle my diet. I am cutting down my intake. It's all a mindgame of sorts. I haven't asked you how it's going because I don't want to remind you. It's not that I don't care!

Keep going! Tomorrow's another day! Rock on! :guitarist

I personally think it's best to pick a day and stop that day. Tell as many people as you can too. I don't know what there is out there but I went on a quit smoking programme. It was free and lasted for 6 weeks, one hour a week. It really helped being around others quitting too.

Almostfamous..I took it for a week before quitting, as prescribed..you make Day 8 your quit date, so the drug has built up in your system.

I did every kind of preparation...I felt I was ready.

Didn't work out..and now I'm still a smoker. :(

Hope it works out better for you though!

Thank you Wendy.

I know smoking won't solve any of my problems...but I'm really too on edge already to add this into the mix right now.

I understand COMPLETELY, trust me...I was in a stressful situation when I started up after not smoking for 13 years....told myself I would only smoke for a year or maybe two tops...well ummmm....6 years later...I finally quit!:(

So, I understand and like I said, I'm in your corner...if you need someone to make you laugh...well that's why we keep Nomad around...:p :D :-4

I stopped taking them so that I wouldn't get the headaches every time I lit up, as I get them often enough anyway.

I will try back on them again at some point, but right now is really not a great time for me. My life is being pretty unstable currently and there is nothing I could substitute for a stress reliever right now either. I was aiming to start them again in early April, but I might be having surgery so..yeah not sure.

I haven't gained any weight, and I didn't while taking them either. I have been losing weight, but that's because I've been exercising.
