Pinky, thats awful!! Dont accept it, challenge it. You must have heard about all of the people claiming back bank charges going years back, there must be a way to sort this out to your convenience. try getting some advce from Citizens advice or some other organisation? I know its not bank charges in your case, but i bet they are walloping charges on you too. Bloomin banks make me so mad! I hope you get somehting sorted Pinky, try not to worry too much, i know its easier said than done.
