Hi. I'm Elly May
Hi Elly May!
Ive just joined recently too. Welcome! :guitarist
"A man can surely do what he wills to do, but he cannot determine what he wills"
I live in north east london. I have a degree in philosophy (which I thoroughly enjoyed!!). Now I am a recruitment consultant in health and social care. I interview and recruit social workers, support workers, care assistants, etc. I joined this site because I haven't engaged in philosophy in a few years now, and I kind of miss it.
What do you do?
What brings you to this site?
Adios for now... :driving: :driving: :driving:

Hi. I'm Elly May
Hi all.
Thank you for the warm welcome!
I joined this site because I wanted to make a few friends and have interesting conversations on a variety of subjects.
I work as a telephonist at the moment, but I'm thinking about changing jobs as there is not enough involved in my job to keep me stimulated.
I've also recently ended a relationship which was not good for me and going nowhere. I'm looking for some support and encouragement in order to find out which direction I want to take next.
Looking forward to talking to all of you some more!:-6

Hi. I'm Elly May
Hi Elly May!
Sounds like you are are at a 'crossroads' point in your life. The end of a relationship, earning a living that doesn't inspire or challenge you, looking for where to go from here.
Its an interesting thing, communicating with someone through the internet. We can relax behind our 'computer screen' and feel totally free to talk about our most deepest emotions, our most deepest thoughts, and hopefully...our most deepest questions.
I'd be honoured if I can be of any comfort or assistance to you, in offering my views and thoughts. I will be sincere, and promise to only talk honestly from the heart...keeping true to my own experiences and personal lessons I have learnt along the way. I will not pretend to know things that I do not, nor will I refrain from sharing with you anything that I whole-heartedly believe is wise and insightful.
I have recently also gone through a big change in my life. I had been living in Manchester for 6 years (I'm originally from London), and had a fantastic time during most of it...apart from the last chapter. For the first 3 years I studied my philosophy degree, and then happily graduated and started working as a support worker, whereby it was my job to support a number of people with learning difficulties and/or mental health problems. I also around this time met my now ex-girlfriend.
Everything started really optimistically, but things soon descended into a horrible life involving drugs, very little contact with my family back home in London, losing most of my good friends up north, my relationship with my girlfriend was naturally very negative and sinister, and I was turning into a person I didn't like very much at all. However, I 'woke up' one day and decided to start making changes. I moved back home to London and slowly started putting the pieces back together and started healing.
I am still healing now, but if I was to put things into words I would say I was 90% better and back on track with my life and back in touch with the 'real me'.
There's an awful lot more to say, but I don't want to write an essay! hehe
So...what about you? Is there anything you want to share with me?
???
Adios for now :driving: :driving: :driving:
P.S. Im not very good with computers. How did you manage to paste on that image of the purple eye and face onto your profile? I want to paste an image onto mine.

Hi Tricky
All you have to do is, go to My Settings, then in the Control Panel click on Edit Avatar. There you will find some pre-defined avatars. Just choose the one you want to use!
I'm hopeless with these things too, only did it because it was easy!
Going to work soon, won't be back on till this evening!:-6

Hi Elly May! :guitarist
Cheers for the help on editing my profile. That was quite easy. I tried to work out how to paste my own image onto my profile rather than just selecting one of the options, but thats far too advanced for me! So I just picked one. Me and computers have learnt over the years that we have to come to a compromise. I don't like them, they don't like me, so we meet in the middle.
Hope you had a good day
