Dog the bounty hunter
Dog the bounty hunter is on my TV screen most nights. I enjoy watching the way the justice system works in the US. Here in the UK you would more than likely stay in jail if arrested on serious crimes, yet the american criminals can get back on the streets very easily by the looks of things.

We have a lot of problems with our legal sytem but I don't think it's really that easy for all the criminals to get back out. We have quite a few incarcerated.

When the crims are out on Bail they are awaiting trial and have not yet been convicted of any crime (innocent until proven guilty). Posting Bail requires 10% of the Bail amount to be deposited wtih the Bail Bondsman. A serious crime like murder could require a $500,000 to a $1,000,000 Bond, which means that someone must put up 50 to 100,000 in cash or collateral. If the criminal skips, the Bondsman is on the hook for the bigger sum. Bail is not always allowed or accepted if allowed. It depends on the judge and the circumstances of the case.

Question posed on CBC Radio a few months ago :
Why is this show on the "Arts & Entertainment" network when it is neither ?

Entertainment value aside, say what you will, but Dog got that piece of crap rapist in Mexico when even Mexico wouldn't bother. That's a whole bunch of girls and women who won't be defiled by him. Works for me.

Hey, it beats crap like Jerry Springer!
I used to watch it when it was first out.
Sometimes people just want some mindless TV and not necessarily to be fulfilled. We have other shows for that.
MAGENTA: DUMP YOUR PM BOX!!!

One thing it shows is that anyone can change. Dog is an ex-criminal having served some big jail terms, pity he couldn't keep his youngest son on the straight and narrow. He's doing 20 years with his dad refusing to bail him out at the initial arrest.

Do you mean his oldest son? I knew about that but what about his youngest? The one he was working with? He's not in prison is he?

Well Red Glitter, i'm no expert on the life of dog and his family but having double checked the episode in which he declares that for his youngest son he hoped that he,d be successful with a computer based job as thats what he was good at. Only for him to end up on ice and being arrested for robbery. Dog and his wife have been dealt a rough hand when it comes to their family. There Daughter died in a car accident on their wedding day which was tragic. The dogs approach to the job he does deserves credit in as much as he actually believes his actions in bringing these criminals to justice is basically saving them from a worse fate. Lives and families torn apart through drugs and crime, then the dog turns up and the criminals get time to decide what direction to go in. Either carry on down the slippery slope or change and bring worthwhile into their crippled lives.
