Yes, I saw that here, and did a double take. Aussies don't normally eat cats, though I believe this is not uncommon in other parts of Asia.

Feral cats are not loved in Australia. I'm sorry for the critters. Humans brought cats to Australia. They are an imported species. Irresponsible humans then dumped unwanted litters into the native bushland. Most of the kittens abandoned in this way die, but not all. They have no natural predators here and the wild survivors are nasty vicious hunters who have wiped out a lot of small Aussie marsupials and birds. Who can blame them? They are just doing what hungry cats do.

I have a friend in upstate New York who "saves and homes" feral cats. My hat off to her. You wouldn't want to try and save and home the aussie version. They'd rip you apart and then eat you.

So, in the country, Aussies shoot them - and - waste not want not - they cook them. I don't have a problem with this - though I'd much rather have a plate of spaghetti with basil pesto... and a glass of good red to wash it down...
