Family history sure is interesting, Neffy. I know you are excited about discovering this.

My sister has been doing some history on my family as well and what she sent me really surprised me. Here I am living modestly in Georgia in the USA, and find this out:

PS. Flaherty was my mothers maiden name, so this is from her side of the family.

Hi Neffy,

My father was born in Alaska, returned to Ireland with his mother when he was 2, and then returned to the USA when he was about 20. My mother was born in the states.

All of my grandparents were born in Dungloe and Dunlewy, Co. Donegal ,Ireland.

I know alittle, I was placed in an orphanage when I was littel, and they gave my adoptive parents a little background, which I verified when I was older, my mom is 100% English with red hair and blue eyes, my dad was 17 years older than her and he was irish and American indian.

Hi Neffers!

As you know already, I find your family history very fascinating and I'm glad to see you posting some more about it! :) I was wondering....how did your grandfather come to be sent over here? Was it of his free will? Do you know if he liked it here? I'm full of questions actually, but i don't want to seem nosy. ;)

I envy people who can trace back to specifics. All I know is we come from (somewhere in) Germany on Mom's side and Germany, Ireland and Scotland on Dad's side. I wish it wasn't such a broad spectrum. It would be nice to know more but I don't think I ever will.

My dad is obsessed with family history. He has been working on our family tree for years and spends a lot of time looking through all the old archives in the National Libraries. Not really sure what his results have turned up, but I remember that we had some interesting relatives to say the least.
