80 years married; not out!

An English couple were today confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records as being the couple who have been married the longest . The man is 105 years old and his wife 100 and they have been married for exactly 80 years. Their aggregate age of 205 is also now the oldest aggregate age for a couple since the 99 year old husband of another 107 year old woman died!

Congratulations to Percy and Florence Arrowsmith!!!

I saw that. if - I mean when - my wife and I make it to our 80th anniversary, we will be just 2 years short of their mark. Of course by then their mark will have been bested several times, I'm sure.

Hubby and I would celebrate our 80th anniversary when I was 111 years old and he was 115. Probably not going to happen but wouldn't it be awesome if it did.

Awww, I saw these two on the news. They are soooo...cute!!!

Florence is a real 'live-wire', I'm sure she's tired old Percy out :yh_rotfl

He couldn't keep his eyes open for the interview, poor darling.

They said the secret to a successful marriage was "...never let the sun go down on an argument" and Percy added "...always say yes dear". :wah:

:yh_doh And all this time I had it wrong. I thought it was "never go to bed angry." I've been sleeping on the couch for six weeks now!

Apparently (though he may even have said this with tongue in cheek, and a twinkle in his eye), he said that the secret of their long lives and lasting marriage has been that he always says, "Yes, dear" and never "No, dear"!!!
