getting your life back into shape
For me it was the book Illusions by Richard Bach. A very basic and simple book but this is how I interpreted the meaning of it and it changed the way I was heading in life at the time.
In a nutshell, we are responsible for everything in our own lives, our happiness, our sadness are achievements and our failures. Everything you do is by choice. If you don’t like your life, change it. If you are unhappy with your circumstances, either change them, or accept the fact that you choose not to change them and find happiness within your choice.
In the end it is all up to you and what you do with your life, don’t blame anyone else or try to hold anyone else responsible. You are in total control. Take responsibility.

In other words, do not be the victim in your life.........be the hero.
Life is a Highway. Let's share the Commute.
getting your life back into shape
An ancient proverb says, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Success starts with taking one small step toward your goal. Goals can be immediate or long term. If you get overwhelmed easily, it's helpful to have both immediate and long term goals. Pick daily, weekly and monthly goals, and reevaluate your goals periodically to make sure they're still in line with your desired outcome.
If your goals overwhelm you, break them down into more reasonable chunks and work on them first. For example, if you want to lose 40 pounds, that number may seem intimidating and daunting. Breaking it down into 5 pound increments sounds much easier and less discouraging. Small victories lead to major triumphs.
Many times people use their circumstances as an excuse for not meeting their goal. Outside circumstances such as kid's activities or sickness can't always be controlled, but there are two other things that drive success; motivation and goals. Even if circumstances can't be changed, goals can be changed and motivation can be increased. Circumstances may seem like a stumbling block, but if you work within your circumstance and have a clear vision of what you want in your future, you will succeed.
And Remember Rome wasnt built in a day:D

Jimbo: Sympathy. I've been there, or somewhere like it. Lost wife, career and what little self respect I'd managed to develop. I think Chezzie's advice is very good - one step at a time.
You must have some idea what the issues in your life are. If you can identify one small thing that you could change for the better now, start on that. Don't try to do everything at once.
If serious drug or alcohol abuse is involved, talk to your doctor. Giving up is tough, but the rewards are enormous. It sounds as though you have ample motivation and that always helps.

getting your life back into shape
having had two brothers and a daughter die i guess when my girl goes missing for three months my mind is allready in grief mode
!!!! Man, that's tough. I'm not surprised you were going nuts when this daughter disappeared. I don't think you ever "get over" that sort of thing but you can, I think, learn to live with it.
Chuckle. I "coped" with the demon drink by smoking cannabis. It's only in the last six months that I've felt strong enough to try to give it up. Failed once, but have started again and am now er, 9 days in. If I fail again, I'll just have to start again and the thought of that is helping me stay off this time. Just have to cope with the three minute madnesses when frankly I'd smoke the carpet if I could get the damn thing to light!:wah:
Best of luck, old thing. :driving: You know we're here if you want to scream and shout for a bit. (Haven't been here long, but have gathered there are other good people happy to help if they can)

Yes the Sunderland match was a black day for the Vanilla, we have definitely gone off the boil, still there is time to turn it around before the end of the season.
