architects of Iraq war...dumb like foxes?

Post by gmc »

How about not only did the west supply Saddam with the material for his WMD's the west loaned him the money to buy them and turned a blind eye when he used them on his own people because it suited our purpose. The whole situation is ridiculous before you start cocgratulating the US administration on being clever enough to get all the terrorists in one place maybe you should start questioning what has been goung on in the middle east to generate such hatred. Nothing happens without there being something leading up to it. It's easy to convince yourself that terrorists are mindless evil thugs, it is just not that simple.

Note I said the west not just US, you can point to french, west german, british as well as american companies all lining up to sell stuff to Iraq.

Under labour the amount of arms sold by UK arms companies in to africa has quadrupled. Weapons sold under Thatcher were used on east timor by the malaysians, the main unifying feature of western diplomacy is hypocracy and double standards.

India and Pakistan are failrly lethal hot spots, how conducive to a peaceful world is it to supply Pakistan with the most up to date aircraft and weapons systems. When they start using them on India no doubt you will be suitably appalled. It's a fairly safe bet that Pakistan will end up with a fundamentalist regime at some point in the near future, no doubt that will be a surprise as well. Who will you back then democratic India or Pakistan?

How long do you think the Saudis will stay in power before they are overthrown?

Far from being dumb like foxes how about barking mad

GMC as I have said before the US's problem is we are being run by a bunch of politicians who know nothing about long term stability, they are interested in the times at hand. And I agree it is short sided many times. We crisis manage and what we need is a long term global plan to combat terrorism. Including not giving any more arms to any nation period.

Actually not just the US, the EEC can't exactly hold it's head high when it comes to double standards in foreign policy. The whole thing is a mess what makes it worse is when the peoples (of the countries concerned) concerned refused to face up to what is done in their name and fall for the line that they are powerless-in a democracy the only power govt and big corporations have is what we let them away with. (O.K I confess I'm a dreamer.)
