FG Cell Phone Browser?

Post by RedGlitter »

I have a Sidekick ID and I have FG programmed in under Bookmarks. I logged in yesterday from my Sidekick and I could navigate fine but I couldn't send a PM to my friend because the message area was too far off my screen.

Does FG have any kind of special browser that works better on cell phones?

FG Cell Phone Browser?

FG is an example of a website. Any website has the possibility of adding different display types to its description. So, for example, the website can say "if the visitor's requesting the page for a computer monitor, lay the page out like this, but if it's for a computer printer, lay the page out like this instead, and if it's going to a cellphone screen then here's what it should look like there and a PDA screen should lay out like..." and so on.

FG, I think, has just "computer screen" and "computer printer" (I may be wrong but we'll check) but not a cellphone or PDA display description. We'd need to write that bit specifically if it were to happen.

The system's due for upgrade to the next release of vBulletin in the near future, I suggest we defer looking until that's tested and working. Then, if there's a vBulletin layout extension which has already thought out the details of cellphone/PDA display, we could plug it in and test it.

Having said all that, it could be that the PDA extension's already installed (I remember Tombstone enabling specific forums for voting on gameshows from PDAs, I think) in which case either it's not applied to all forums or it's not recognising Sidekick ID as a PDA environment.

Perhaps Tombstone would correct my rambling, he's better informed.
