I still think Jess is right - the Paedos should *never* be allowed back into society. If they continue to be a danger to children then what the hell are the government doing putting our children in danger?

what ya ask 4 wont work or happen

It can and it does work. And making it public is the only way it can work. I see it every day. When a sex offender registers, notifications are sent out to a certain area where they are moving. They cannot live in a house with minor children, cannot live within so many feet of a school or licensed day care center.

There are whole divisions of departments whose only job is to keep in touch with these people. If they move without notifing the police, a warrant is signed and they are hunted down, charged and sent back to jail. If they fail to register when they leave prison, they are hunted down and charged and sent back to jail. If they also have not been in touch with their probation or parole officer during that time, they are also charged with probation/parole violation and sent back with that charge tacked on.

Our department has a weekly show in which we show pictures of people with charges from bad checks to failure to register and everything in between including dead beat parents. After the show, the phones literally ring off the hook.

El is right that they should never get out of jail but that would be Eutopia and a dream world and that just doesn't happen.

As Bryn said, two kids doing the naughty is not right and not acceptable to be labled as a sex offender. People caught urinating on the side of the road can also be charged with indecent exposure and therefore a sex offender. Although, law enforcement doesn't charge that much anymore because of the repercussions from that charge.

There are very few "lynch mobs" out there when it comes to sex offenders that I have heard of. Most sex offenders will move on their own when it becomes known and they feel they are being watch intensely by the neighbors.

well if they disapear publish there pic

but as you said they move when there being watched by th public

best for the police to know where they are

do not let then work live or have contact with children

but still i say it cant work you will drive them underground

and that is the worst thing that will happen

pervert who abuse children should be locked away forever

ya cannot release and publish sorry

I feel about child molesters the same way I feel about rapists, providing you know for certain they committed the act. Some simple mountain justice as opposed to a long dragged-out law process. An angry father or brother or husband and a rifle. That's all. Or better yet, let the victim do it if they're alive and capable. Cheap therapy, no court time, no taxpayers have to pay for some scumbag's "3 Hots and a Cot."

You know Red, I think that would be too good for them, I truly believe that they should be made to have the most painful and humiliating death.

Welllll....how about nailing their offending member to a tree, setting the tree on fire and handing them a rusty spoon? :D

So they can have a cushti time banged up with all the other sex offenders, I would rather be safe in the knowledge that they are done, dusted and that they were made to suffer.

Problem is Jess, everyone wants to protect these weirdos, so they have their own special wing, everything done for them, then if they are 'good' boys and say what the parole board want to hear, they get released to go wreck another families life.

I think there is more chance of having a register put through everyone's letter box, with the offenders info and picture, than what there is of life meaning life

no prison should be harder make them work in there

no tv no posh food no gyms

the prob is life on the outside for us normal people is too hard so prison seems cushy

Are these crimes worse than, for instance, murder? Are they on a par with any other crimes?

Bill Sikes;637498 wrote: Are these crimes worse than, for instance, murder? Are they on a par with any other crimes?

I'll try to answer that, Bill, but I might rattle on. You know how I am.

Sometimes I think they're worse than murder because if you own nothing else in the world, at the least, you own your own mind and body. Some scum comes along and violates your body- enters your private sanctum- and essentially violates your mind as well because you will suffer some degree of trauma forever-and you will have to live with that for the rest of your life. They stole your peace. Killed a part of you.

However sometimes I also feel that these acts are on the same par with murder (talking about cold blooded killing, not self defense or bonafide accidents) because your life belongs to you (and maybe God if you will) and if you're murdered, they've violated you this way too. Stolen something that was yours and indeed precious. So I would say murder warrants murder in return and that it is just as heinous as rape and molestation. Okay wait, I'm going to amend that. I'll say murder is as heinous as rape. If we're talking the fondling of a child (or adult) that's certainly bad but no, I don't feel it's *as* bad as a scumbag forcibly putting himself inside one's body. Once that line is crossed and entry has occurred, whether it be vaginally, anally or orally, I think that is far worse than feeling up a child or adult. That to me warrants death as punishment and for the world to be rid of such garbage.

Molestation (which I understand to mean touching the victim or forcing the victim to touch the offender, but doesn't include vaginal, oral and anal acts) in my eyes, even if we're speaking of a child victim, is terrible but not as much of a violation as rape and warrants a prison sentence, possibly lifelong, depending on the acts committed.

I know a lot of people, especially parents, might think I'm off the deep end for saying that but I'm trying to use logic and not just my emotional reaction to answer your question. If I was just going on emotion, I'd say shoot them all.

I don't think murder and rape are on a par with any other crime. Nor molestation. At least I can't see that something like embezzlement or extortion is as bad as having one's body violated.

I hope I answered your Q, Bill. :)

Well at least you did answer! Thanks. I was having trouble with the idea that "any sex crime regardless is the worst crime there is and worthy of the most extreme punishment and retribution". I wouldn't accuse you of "rattling on", BTW.

Thanks Bill!

I'm glad you let me clarify that then because I hadn't realized it sounded like that and I definitely don't feel that way myself. You posed a really worthy question and gave me pause to stop and consider.
