I read once how the population of white anglo peoples is declining and the population of other races is improving. Those in what we would often refer to as third world countries are having children with progressively larger and larger families. Where as the anglo populations of the world are declining in family numbers and therefore population and race structure.

I saw this on a 'supremisist' site and I could argue with quite a few of their points but this I could not argue with .

Are we declining because we are told to, or are we declining because there is another colonial type situation going on in which the few control the many? And it will be the white few who do this?

There is all this talk about overpopulation and it seems only those in western societies are taking heed of this.............where will this lead us?

both my parents were from a family of 9 children, my mother was 4th in her family and my dad was the youngest in his, if their parents had been restricted to having only 1 or 2 children, neither of them would have been born and that means i would have never existed as well!

i like to think i'm of some value to the world! :D

Hello Jester,

They need food, clothes, attention and education to set them on their ways and the more children you have the more you have to share but it does learn them not to be so greedy.

WHILE CHINA HAS 21% OF THE WORLD'S POPULATION, it has only 10% of land suitable for cultivation. More than 160 million people are added to the population every year. In response, the Chinese government has vigorously promoted family planning; in 1979 they announced the controversial 'one child policy,' with rewards and penalties to induce couples to limit their family to one child. For thousands of years, Chinese culture has dictated every family must have a son or risk dishonoring their ancestors; the birth of a boy is celebrated while the birth of a girl is not acknowledged. More than 6 million women in China are called 'Lai-De' or 'Zheo-Di' (both of which mean, 'next time bring a boy'). There are no official statistics for abandoned babies, and abandoning children is a crime that carries stiff penalties. But some parents are willing to take the risk because, if they can only have one child, they don't want it to be a girl. Abandoned children are left to die beside roads, rivers and railway stations; others are picked up by gangs and used for begging. There are some 40,000 orphanages with between 1 and 3 million Chinese orphans; two in five babies entering the system die.

Having adopted a daughter from China, I learned much about the situation there with regards to their one child law.

The first thing that surprised me when being there was although the facts are correct that there are many girls up for adoption because of the preference to having a son vs a daughter is true, (and this is what you always hear about), the number of boys abandoned is also incredibly high, but gets little publicity.

A 1 child policy is exactly that, if a second child happens also to be a boy, the child also needs to be abandoned. This gets little publicity though, and therefore many young boys are left to grow up in orphanages and not be adopted as the outside world mostly adopts the little girls because of what they hear regarding the situation.

The term ‘abandoned’ although technically correct as a term, is very different than what we think. It is not abandonment out of choice; the penalties are very stiff for having a second child and would bankrupt a family. To bring a child to an orphanage would again identify the mother of having the child and therefore subject them to the fine, so yes, the children can be left ‘ beside roads, rivers and railway stations;’ but it is a myth that they are left there to die. They are most often left in a way so that they are easily found, and well wrapped up, and even with notes begging for someone to care for the child.

It would be wrong to depict the mothers as uncaring and cruel, it is the system, and I am sure that there are as many broken hearts of mothers as there are children ‘abandoned’.

Over the years due to the law, the population growth of men vs woman has been increasing creating a gap, so the laws have been modified in some ways.

Natural born twins are allowed.

If the first born child is a girl, the family can now receive government funding; this is done to try to offset the preference for sons and the abandonment of girls. However the outcome of this is: In the countryside where farming is predominant the preference is for boys as they are needed for farming and strength, in the cities where houses are expensive, the preference has turned towards wanting girls to receive the government subsidies.

One can argue if their law is wrong or right, but how does anyone manage a population of over 1 billion people and continuously growing.

The law can be seen as cruel, but the Chinese themselves are a people who love their children very much and have a very strong sense of family, this law and the stiff penalties that enforce it, put people in positions where they need to do what they must really not want to.

Good God? Why???

Who is making the money?

I didn't have to spend anything other than government document fees, travel costs and a personal & moderate donation paid directly to the orphanage.

It took a few years to go through the process, but at least it was official and no funny business.

Part of the problem is that people do not want to wait, so they take short cuts and go through agencies and lawyers so it can happen fast, and get ripped off everywhere, or worse, you may not really know the real background and situation.

Paying out that kind of money would worry me, no wonder you hear stories of corruption with regards to adoption.

If your country shares good politics with China it's cheap and easy ....but lawyers are making most of money. They are practically giving children away in Romania. But forget about Russia. When Iraq and Afghanistan eventually settles down you'll be able to adopt some orphans from their I'm sure.

Milkenie another problem china has got with abondonment is the pre school tests. There have been cases where children have been abondoned and even murdered because they didn't do so well. Parents get rid of the child and begin from scratch.

I find it amazing that in a country where uncles and aunts played such a huge family role within the culture, that now we have children who never know what a uncle or aunt is ( probably third generation now?)

Sorry, but is there any evidence of this, or where is this reported? I have never heard of anything like that, and I find it very hard to believe.
