You know, usually the first assessment a couples or family counselor makes is how the individuals are interacting. Whether or not any of them are making others responsible for their feelings. What the counselor does is ask the couple or family to talk like the counselor is not in the room, and what the counselor is looking for is language such as: "you make me feel" and "you hurt me" and "you're not a good partner". If that is happening in a relationship the counselor knows the first thing that needs addressing is the language being used, and so they make the people aware of their tendency and offer them a new way to talk to each other. What the counselor teaches is to address the behavior and not the individual like: "when you say such-n-such I feel humiliated." This change in communication is all that's needed in many cases to save a relationship.

You experienced feelings when you thought I said Obama was evil and your reaction was to call me a name. What you could have done is inform me that you took issue with me saying Obama was evil and then move forward from there.

Most disagreements are trivial compared to what they agree on: Concentrating power and control in a centralized national gov't, global military empire, tax-support and absorbing risk of international corporations.

I see that this thread has gone on long enough for people to step in and take sides...

Perhaps we can draw a line through the middle and allow everyone to step back, hoard their belongings, conspire amongst themselves, and then race full circle back to what may or may not be an obvious DMZ we may be able to resolve the situation quickly and effectively.

A couple of people got to know each other a little better, that's all. There are no hard feelings as far as I'm concerned and I'm certain Anne will survive the situation just fine. she's tough enough and smart enough.

That's never a bad thing.

She's a nice little kitty, Pussy is. Accountable gifted her to me and since he's decided to leave [for a while] I feel it's only fair he be responsible for her wellbeing. A healthy and well cared for Pussy is important to the both of us.
