If you were in uniform, they probably wouldn't have messed with you anyway. A young vigorous man with an air of authority trumps a meek older woman everytime.

So, because you say it shouldn't happen you think it doesn't happen. The schools themselves are called in to deal with problems on the buses, not the police.

Regardless of what the Boop's saying, we don't have them in England and the bus driver here most definitely does perform the job functions listed in that linked PDF file.
We don't have specifically employed bus monitors no, but we do have people that have to take on that role on occasion. Bus drivers will stop the bus and refuse to move if the kids are playing up, it is not their place to discipline them and they refuse to do so.

He's certainly implying I don't know what I'm talking about but people reading this can make up their own minds whether to accept what a mother of a 15 year old is reporting as actually happening in her own locality or they can believe spot with his one time conversation with a school boy on public transport. It's a no brainer really hey.

One evening as I was leaving for home, I saw one of the buses parked at the base gate. It was still full of kids! According to the gate guard, the bus left, came back a couple of minutes later, and the driver walked away, handing the keys to the gate guard. Apparently the kids had gotten the best of him.
Long story short, I ended up driving the bus & dropping the kids off. They'd already had their fun so they behaved pretty well for me. :wah:
:wah: and that's what's needed, keep the kids in suspense that on random days someone is going to travel with them to keep them under control. From what I can gather the older children in my son's school are having the responsibility put on their shoulders to keep the buses trouble free. It's a big ask.
