JJ

sound like you might have a attitude ?

that doesn't go over well here.

We stay for @ a month in Hawaii every year & have for the last 15 yrs.

It's really sad to notice that the younger age group are very obese and still wear a

bikini or speedo. it's not just a older age group.

I guess I wish I had their confidence to wear a bikini - NO, modest milly here.

their attitude is let it all hang out.

Moi ... an attitude??? Why since birth dear!

I deliberately pinned my colors to the mast in my first reply Patsy ... Didn't want there to be any like any abiguity ... I mean what kind of a friend would I be if I allowed a real lady such as yourself to fight the good fight alone?

Pffffffffft ... I stand and fall by what I post ... Have done many times and have fallen many times. But I get knocked down and stand up again!

Letting it all hang out is great ... provided what you hang out doesn't wibble wobble like jelly on a plate!

I don't know many folks that are really pleased with their own body image. Folks pay lip service to it, but stand in front of a mirror for any length of time and everyone will spot something about themselves.

I distinctly remember a time when comments denigrating other people's appearance was frowned upon here. When did body snark come into fashion at FG? You all hopefully realize that the world wide audience that visits this forum contain people of all shapes and sizes and having to read these incredibly rude remarks would be painful. Is that what you intended with this thread, Patsy?

Let's look at this logically...

Take the USA alone for now as the majority of people on holiday In Hawaii.

Two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight or obese.

Overweight and Obesity in the U.S. « Food Research & Action Center

Are we seriously suggesting here that If a countries population Is obese by 2 thirds, they must cover up on a beach when vacationing?

The USA Is not alone... most Western countries have high obesity levels.... It's a growing epidemic....

What needs to be addressed Is why America Is In the main obese... not weather they show their flesh on the beach for the obese are In the majority here not the minority.

The opinions expressed in threads on Forum Garden are totally and completely those of the members who subscribe to each particular thread and in no way whatever reflect the opinion of the Site Owner.

I am an Atheist, however I have since joining FG seen many many threads praising "God" and quoting the christian bible. Despite this I remain a member.

Noooooooooooooo not at all Oscar honey. Obese people are free to wear as much or as little as they want to on the beach. However, that does not mean that people who are disgusted by their appearance should not express their opinion.

Personally if I was on a a beach wherever and I was surrounded by obese people in bikinis and Speedos, I would say nothing to them cos it is their democratic right to dress the way they please. But I am free to think ot post my feelings here or on any site.

Wow Annie!!

Amusing: Causing laughter or providing entertainment.

Disgusting: Arousing revulsion or strong indignation.

Hard for me to reconcile the two.

My husband Is a little over-weight, not obese but If he stripped down to his shorts on the beach It would be noticable. He's over-weight because he can't walk from one room to another without fighting for breath because of two seperate lung conditions and he can't exercise at all..... so you'd find him repulsive would you?

It's not a hidden secret that obesity is a epidemic

As JJ stated the "fat" that wiggles & wobbles is hanging all out in a bikini/speedo.

I haven't met many that enjoys even trying a bathing suit on - that alone is a

nightmare - we all have mirrors - we all have image problems

yet some have a confidence level to put a bikini on - it's like hide & seek.

Not likely as "a little overweight" does not equate to obese in my opinion.

I'm quite grateful to people who are obese. For the moment they appear to have knocked smokers into second place, as an object of society's projections and as the cause of all our ills. Though I think people who consume alcohol are a close third.

No. You often get strange people who don't smoke standing really close to you and making a huge fuss about you causing them to inhale your smoke. Being moaned at and criticised aren't much better than being sneered or laughed at.

You can still walk around like a "normal" person when you're not smoking though. The gross and disgusting fatties are stuck being objects of ridicule everywhere they go.
