Here's a simple explanation of what breast cancer is and what is meant by the mutation of the BRCA gene.

Think of a gene as an encapsulation containing just the proper number of diverse cells crammed in it for the proper function of the gene. The walls of the capsule containing the cells are fortified by the hormone Calcitriol (aka vit-d3). The cells contained within the gene are alive and work cooperatively as had been sequenced by the DNA coding.

As we age, like many other things in our body, the walls of the genes in some of us begin to weaken and even to the point of breaking down. When the walls of the gene begin to weaken the gene may begin to stretch. A breakdown of the gene walls is actual opening of the gene.

When gene walls weaken and begins to stretch the cells inside reproduce (natural selection at work) which causes an out-of-balance condition within the gene (cancer). This is what's called mutating. At this point cancer may be detected and acted on with not so aggressive therapy targeting the mutating gene and killing off the cells that reproduced and caused the gene to be out of whack.

If the gene walls begin to split the cells begin to reproduce themselves out of the gene and into foreign parts of the body. This is the beginning of a critical stage of cancer. If the cells are permitted to continue to reproduce at will and invade other bodily organs the body is out of whack altogether and succumbs to death. At any point before death any number of surgeries may occur in order to try and stop the process as it spreads.

So you see, the key to cancer prevention is paying attention to the walls of the genes that they maintain their integrity and not "mutate". This is why vit-d3 is vital to the body as far as cancer is concerned.
