If I were to try disproving my own theory then I would have to say that Judaism (a monotheism) is rather tolerant with regards other beliefs, but that fact would disprove your notion even more ..... rather than less.

Yea

I think we been beaten down into the concept of tolerance. At one time, according to our own history, we were not so tolerant.

How about this:

"The Cave of the Patriarchs massacre or Ibrahimi Mosque massacre, also known as the Hebron massacre,[1] was a shooting attack carried out by American-born Israeli Baruch Goldstein, a member of the far-right Israeli Kach movement, who opened fire on unarmed Palestinian Muslims praying inside the Ibrahimi Mosque (or Mosque of Abraham) at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, West Bank. It took place on February 25, 1994, during the overlapping religious holidays of Purim and Ramadan.[2][3] The attack left 29 male worshippers dead and 125 wounded.[4] The attack only ended after Goldstein was overcome and beaten to death by survivors."

Cave of the Patriarchs massacre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and this:

"Israeli settler violence refers to acts of violence committed by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and Israeli security forces, predominantly in the West Bank. Most West Bank settlers are "law abiding" (according to a senior Israeli army officer)[1] and the vast majority are non-violent,[2] but there has been a rise in violent acts by fringe extremists against Palestinians and Israel Police and IDF troops."

Israeli settler violence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

this:

"JERUSALEM: Israeli settlers torched a West Bank mosque in an apparent revenge attack on Wednesday, Palestinian officials said, as the US top diplomat headed to Jordan to discuss the spiralling violence."

As a defence, in future, whilst I am writing to a Brit, I shall try to say it & spell it the quaint way, as in: "AN Hotel," (which always makes me chuckle).

I just teasing.......it's forte with an E......and that's French.

Now......about this A hotel or An hotel.....?

Therefore, these two rules above mean that you use...

a) 'AN' before 'h' words where the 'h' is not sounded

(e.g. an hour late, an honorary degree, an heir to the throne, an honest mistake,

b) 'A' before 'h' words where 'h' IS sounded

(e.g. a hotel, a healthy baby, a history documentary, a happy ending, a historical event, a horrific accident, a handbag, a horse)

c) 'A' before 'u' words where the 'u' sounds like 'You'

(e.g. a university, a used car, a united front, a union official) So, to answer the question "a / an hotel"??? - It is definitely "A HOTEL"

I am confused......who says A.....who says An ?

Bruv;1471226 wrote: Blooming right I disagree with you.

I Googled 'extremist Jews' and returned both the stories shown above.

I remember hearing of a section of Jewish society that are as fundamental or extreme as the most extreme fundamentalist Muslim.

The writer refuses to allow his friend move away from the group of three friends sitting together, the request was because "He appeared agitated by this: haredi men scrupulously avoid any contact with, even close proximity to, women who are not family members" So the writer was making a stand against the haredi gentleman in a secular public meeting not a religious group at the man's synagogue.

That's all very fine, but I am responding to the link you included. If you want me to see it from your perspective then you'll have to provide some other source because it is the writer (in your link) who's the extremist. I asked if you disagree with that observation but in supporting your disagreement your response simply confirms what I said. Allow me to paraphrase your response and "clean it up" a bit: The writer refused to allow his friend to move at the REQUEST (no hard words) of the haredi gentleman. You don't see how ridiculous that is? He wasn't asked to move himself. His friend was asked. But this chip-on-the shoulder writer wouldn't even allow his friend to exercise his personal tolerance. Excuse me, but this writer is an ass.

Note that I am not defending anyone. I responded to FourPart who said, "I've never come across any Jewish extremist groups." >>>>>>> NOR HAVE I.

Well, tolerance. I don't know if one can judge that by the practice of preaching but it must be worth something. Christians (in particular) and also Muslims are on about conversions. A non-Muslim man may not marry a Muslim woman - he must convert first. Only Christians will be permitted to enter heaven and they are knocking on my door and accosting me on the street corner with pamphlets and – Find Jesus! Be saved! But where are the Jews? They are just doing their thing and leaving everyone else alone with their own beliefs or even non-beliefs. While Christians and Muslims are telling us that heaven is for those who believe in their own “church the Jews accept that everyone has a shot at the pearly gates. THAT is tolerance. Oh! And just try to convert to Judaism! Oj vay! You can forget it! “If you already believe in G_d, why I should convert you?

Actually, it's Forté (with the accent) - as in Pianoforté (meaning Quiet-Loud). The term 'Piano', when refering to the musical instrument is technically incorrect, as it's only half the instrument - it's like playing a 'Gui', but that's just being pedantic.

The writer of the linked article has obviously had previous dealings with extremist Jewish groups, unlike yourself.

He attended a secular meeting with a married couple, as friends they wanted to sit together, to interact during the meeting.

The request to change the seating arrangements was because of the haredi man's intolerance of sitting next to a woman.

The writer, out of character, objected as he said "I’m not sure what prompted this reaction. Perhaps it was the years of built-up resentment I have felt about the assertive public-square fundamentalism of the haredim, who are trying to turn Jerusalem, a city I adore, into a kind of Jewish Riyadh."

I think you have a gap in your knowledge of the situation within Israel, I insert some random links for you to peruse.

Calm down calm down I was being a bit flippant..... like I do, I knew about the pianoforte bit, but you ought to have questioned the French part, apparently it's Italian with roots in Latin, surprise surprise..................

That makes it alright then. Please. One could almost believe you are taking it onboard yourself. I've actually had some dealings with unsavoury Jews and even disgusting Englishmen. What do you think? Let me tell you that I wouldn't make an ass out of myself and embarrass my friends ¦ plus make a scene of prejudice far worst than the fellow making a civil request. But for the sake of discussion let me say that if I actually had been as foolish as this writer of yours, I'd be at the paper and pen asking for forgiveness rather than pumping the horn of self-righteousness.

You're very fond of that word, “ intolerance. The intolerance of eating pork would be an interesting theme as well. It is not intolerant to follow the letter of religious belief any more than it is to refrain from observing any of the Commandments, for example.

The writer is making excuses for himself. No, not even that. He is proud of his reaction and is keen to say so. I wonder why his friend is lost in the narrative? What did this friend have to say about it? Did he make any apologies to this friend?

Bruv;1471286 wrote: “¦.... resentment I have felt about the assertive public-square fundamentalism of the haredim who are trying to turn Jerusalem, a city I adore, into a kind of Jewish Riyadh."

Yes, I know. I am a man of deep sensitivity. I wouldn't have reacted that way except for a promise I made to my dear mum just before she died. Spare me the holy tripe. He's simply covering his tracks with prudent retrospect . A city he adores, eh. It's his city then is it? This writer is an ass from the very beginning of the story right up to the end of it and 80% percent of it is ad hoc tailoring to make himself seem like a saint, a champion of the spirit of one of the world's great and historic cities. But you know, for all his saintliness ¦...... he found a tiny window of opportunity to take a jab at the Arabs. Kick this man to the curbing.

OK HT the man is an uncultured bigoted ignoramus, who happens to have lived long term amongst 'The problems' of which he speaks, lets kick him to the kerb.

Have you availed yourself of the other links I provided ?

Women segregated from men on public buses? Which is loosely related to the article.

The Right to the Land ? Quite extreme I thought.

The army destroying illegal settlers homes ?

All this started in that you have never come across extremist Jews, the one you are stuck on is only one of several provided

Unlike the Nazis I finish one battle before I take on the next one. "The writer" is the one you provided first, and as it happend, it disproved the point you wanted to make. I thought it was necessary to see it through.

Come on Bruv.

The first video is of a pompous racist nobody. Not a GROUP of them or an organization. The second one merely points out the intolerance of orthodox-ism, no matter what religion. The third one demonstrates the growing, neo-Nazi politics of the Israeli government. It's political. Well more than that. The fourth one is a Jewish intifada. What more can be said about it?

But what it the purpose of showing me these? FourPart was referring to Jewish terrorist groups, unless I misunderstood him. Your films have nothing to do with it.

I honestly do not understand. You want to convince me that there are Jews/Israelis who are unjust? Racist? Brutal? Intolerant? What gave you the idea that I didn't already know that?

I am walking away.....................if there are villages of illegal settler communities, and groups of Israeli society require females to sit at the rear of buses, and children need protecting from stoning by the occupying troops on their way to school, I figure that that covers groups of Jewish extremists.

Groups meaning.......well....groups, collections of like minded people.
