Hypocritical Native Americans
It's all clear to me now:
Birthday:
April 30, 1986
This is rainbowsmiles birthday. I knew everything there was to know about everything at that age, too. Then I realized there was a lot more grey to the world than the strict black-and-white that I saw things in. I grew up, I opened my mind and my ears once in a while and discovered that I didn't know sh!t. It's a tough transition sometimes, realizing that you don't know everything, (and sometimes ANYTHING) but it's a lesson that we all have to go through. She's just not there yet.
I have no desire, or patience to try and convince anyone of anything about my heritage. Some people just don't want to accept another's word, which is fine. Like I said, I know where I come from.
Sometimes there is just no reasoning with anyone. That's why I rarely try. I tend to lose my temper and things get ugly.

What? Your bothered by the fact that at 19 I know more than you... and your what? 40? 50? 60? You should be embarrassed that I know more about your heritage than you do and that I appreciate the Native people of this country and understand most of them better than you do! A person who claims to be proud of her heritage but is unwilling to discover her true roots and associate with her tribe but instead chooses to disrespect an entire race on a public forum just because of a few bad apples she's come in contact with.
Well, if all my rantings here make me an arrogant and immature child... Thats wonderful! I'd certainly rather be me than someone who isn't educated enough to have a mature conversation about the real issues at hand here!
Have a good life running from yourself!

Not much chance of that, Acc. When children get an idea in their heads, it's often very difficult, if not downright impossible to get them to change their minds until they learn a few things. Manners, respect, tolerance, humility, composure; they're all learned through experience and time. It just takes some longer than others, as we've seen here.

I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with Far. You have not lived long enough to be as all knowing is you think you are!
Where you are, Baby Rider was, where she is, you still have to get!!! :-2

Rainbow, if you'll kindly look behind you you'll see my line you just crossed. You take a line out of context and make a conclusion, then you demonstrate your prejudice with the next sentence.
You're a bigot. I don't try to reason with bigots.
I saw her bigotry in her first few posts.
I have said my say on the matter.
But I do have one little small question for rainbowfrowns:
I might have missed it, but just how much indian do you claim to have in your blood line?
I sorta have this hunch you are a wanna be indian.........Which strikes me weird in your attack on baby.........
She states her point that the majority of the indians I know. They support and feel the same way too.
So miss 19 yr old, smarter than the rest of the world, maybe you need to pull your head outa your arse and smell the real world before you start slamming a REAL native American like Baby..........
I quit with you here and now.

WOW! When BabyRider gets involved in a thread, you can bet it's gonna be interesting!
Let me post one more time and clarify a couple of thinggs:
1. I respect Native Americans and their culture, all of my friends are Native and I was raised with them. (I can even speak some Navajo)
2. I DO NOT respect their tribal governments that refuse to release DWI information to the state, thereby increasing the DWI death rate.
3. I am appalled that Native Americans, who dominate my local paper with DWIs, would choose to ignore a law passed by our state to help this problem. (The ignition interlock law) To me, that is crimininally irresponsible.
4. This thread was not meant to be a debate on whether Native Americans had a hard time in the past, or to cast aspersons on their culture, it was meant to create an awareness of what I see as a despicable apathy to a terrible problem by a distinct group of people. I was hoping to get some of them to admit there even was a problem. At the very least, start a dialogue about a topic that is difficult to talk about without devolving to racism and name-calling, but a topic that is desperate and timely, and seriously needs to be talked about.
From BR's point of view, (and thanks for that amazing post, BR, you are your usual eloquent self!) I see that I have made a little impact.
From Rainbow's point of view, I see that I have failed miserably, and that some people will continue to ignore this problem while families die on the highways.
Well...I guess that's about as much as I can do. That's what forums are for, to talk about things, sometimes uncomfortable and volitile things.
My congratulations to all who passionately defended their position, which ever side you were on, and remember, at the end of the day, we are all still
ForumGardners!
