Hoping to celebrate Thanksgiving here this year, in solidarity with my American family.. grin... bit complicated this year as Mik and Romy will both be in Paris then. Lucky ducks. Their first trip. It's Mik's birthday and Romy is treating him. Wish I could be there with them Just finished supper here, fresh pasta and chicken liver and sage sauce. To die for... ahhhhh....

((((((((Pam)))))))))). HOpe you do get to make a Thanksgiving dinner. You making your own pasta now i take it? I saw people come in and buy fresh pasta at the Olive Garden many times. I made peanut butter cookies last night or two nights ago and I really did cook them a bit too long but everyone seemed to like them.

So then you dont recommend tofurkey. I may wait a while to test that one. Maybe forever. I saw an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond and the mom made tofurkey. No one could eat it.

Who do you work for that wont let you off? They are terrible. I remember my dad worked seven days a week. Years ago. And he kept a cow that had to be milked and had a huge garden to take care of too. But I am not him and I need my weekends.

I just can't see the point of tofurkey, Okie. It's like nutmeat lamb chops and vegiefish. It's perfectly respectable to be a vegetarian - and these days there's lots of variety available to vegetarians. Why pretend it's meat - with meat flavour, meat shape????

You want turkey - eat turkey. You want tofu - go for it !!! :D

Got a pasta maker for New Year. It's quick and easy to use. So far I've only made spaghetti and fettuccini - but you can do other stuff too. Tastes way different from anything I can buy, even fresh. YUMMO. The chicken liver and sage sauce turned out wonderful.

YZGI - Where in Kansas are you?

This is me the day after Halloween, somewhere in the Flint Hills. A wild witchy dance in snow flurries... egged on by a certain Oklahoman.

Main course the same here, Guppy.

And me too - though I am really happy they will be seeing Paris. Their first time. They both live in London where my son makes films and my daughter has her own MTV channel - Total Music Factory and Nikolodeon. It's Mik's birthday and Romy is taking him to France to celebrate. GREAT PRESSIE !!!

Do you know Paris? Paris, France, I mean - I know there's one in Texas too. Grin. The kids are staying in the Montparnasse area on the Left Bank, not that far from the Eiffel Tower. They will only have a few days but want to walk along the Seine, see Notre Dame, mooch round the Boul Mich, see all the sidewallk cafes etc, shop and go to Montmartre to do an Amelie nostalgia trip. Did you ever see that film? It's where Audrey Tatou made her big screen debut, before doing stuff like the Da Vinci Code. In Montmartre - I hope Mik also gets to the Salvador Dali museum. It's incredible - and he (Mik) has a thing about melting clocks and Alice in Wonderland ladies with flowers growing out of their hair.

I went to a place called The Christmas Tree Store today. A new chain of stores. Will be open year round. Seemed rather inexpensive, for the things I looked at. I would go back again.

That was a cold blustery day wasnt it. Who would have thought of a tiny town there having a underwear show with jello shots.

I realised this morning just how much my Mom is cocooned from reality. She showed me a picture of Dusty Springfield and I told her that she had been a Lesbian. She asked "Is that a woman who acts like a man?"

Then she said " They don't have men going with men do they?"

I said that there were lot's of Gay men, and cited Liberace, Rock Hudson (a jaw-dropping moment), and Elton John as examples.

Then she asked how I'd found out :-2

I have one random thought. Why do they announce that one of the side effects of taking sleeping pills is that it may make you drowsy. Isnt that what they are supposed to do?

Yes, I find that hysterical..that a "side" effect is when the med does what it is designed to do!!

Yep. I once panned a movie camera across the picnic grounds after a huge meal for family reunion and I caught three generations sleeping just after the big meal.

I hate tornado watches. But not as bad as it once was. We have much better radar now and they can pinpoint the track and the time. So you can just drive away and go get a cuppa coffee and come home after (maybe) and see if you still have a home.
