Hubby has been feeling better and plans to go back to work tomorrow. He is still healing so he will have to take it easy, ofcourse. He is outside in the yard right now with his bro-in-law and an old buddy "shooting the sh#t". :wah: I fixed a roast for dinner with potatoes, lima beans and creamed corn. (We bought two bushels of corn yesterday. HUbby shucked and cleaned the ears in the yard yesterdy evening, brought them in and cut the kernels off the cob. I helped bag them for the freezer.)

So how is your day going? :)

You have been busy, glad you found yourself a new t.v.!

Awwwwwwwwww I'm so glad he is feeling better and is outside in the garden and able to go back to work.

2 bushels is a lot of corn, are you going to eat it all on you own?:yh_rotfl

Most of it...................eventually. :D

For Memorial Day:

These heroes are dead. They died for liberty - they died for us. They are at rest. They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, and the embracing vines. They sleep beneath the shadows of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or of storm, each in the windowless Place of Rest. Earth may run red with other wars - they are at peace. In the midst of battle, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death. I have one sentiment for soldiers living and dead: cheers for the living; tears for the dead. ~Robert G. Ingersoll

Ever heard of this treatment?

Hubby did have a urinary tract infection (his fever, chills, diaharrea), so the doctor prescibed an antibiotic.

I've had two prostate surgeries known as a TURP. I get urinary tract infections all the time. They are no fun and won't go away on their own, you need a powerful antibiotic. I've also had a bladder stone removed and I took medication to dissolve two golf ball sized kidney stones made of uric acid crystals. I have gout.

As some of you know already, I work in an office. I have a radio there and we all listen to music in the background. Good ambiance. There's a local AM station the plays "oldies" and I particularly enjoy that one. However, in the last few weeks, that station has faded out and been overcome with alot of static. So, we've been forced to listen to a more "contemporary" FM station. Yuch! I miss my AM station. So, the other day, I discovered that this AM station has a website and I e-mailed them my story with the subject "A Fan". I really didn't expect a reply. But...guess what?....I got a phone call today in the office from the DJ/Manager. He admitted that the station has been having problems lately, but they should be resolved in the near future. He asked if the company I work for has added some more machinery recently and I said no, suggesting that this could be a cause for poor reception. We chatted briefly. He thanked me for the e-mail and I thanked him for the reply. His voice sounded just like it sounds on the radio. :wah:

So...............how's your AM?:)

I just now noticed your post, bob.

Hubby and I are both nervous about this BCG treatment. As a matter of fact, the Urology Clinic called this afternoon about scheduling that first treatment for July 25th. This all started after Hubby had to get up so often at night to use the bathroom. He suspected that it may be his prostate, which is a fairly common problem for men of a certain age. But, it turned out to be another problem as you have read.

Kidney stones, eh? ouch! I feel for ya. I never had them as of yet but I have heard they are painful to get rid of.

I was lucky considering they were made of uric acid crystals instead of Calcium, the other option. Had they been the calcium variety I would have had a lipotripsy procedure that would have required a catheter installed so that the small pieces could be expelled. That would have taken weeks off from work and been painful. Instead I was prescribed Potassium Citrate caplets that changed my body's acid levels enough to dissolve the stones. That took months but no missed work or pain. I still take 3 caplets every day to prevent more from growing. My prostate is so large I take Avodart every day to shrink it or keep it from growing. Otherwise my Urologist assured me I'd need a third operation in a year.

just wondering if either of you had been checked for Interstitial Cystitis as well?

It's a bladder disease not always common to a lot of urologists.

It causes major bladder infections, one after the other, they are much more painful then regular ones that everyone gets.

I had these for years and was treated with anti-bioics when finally my family doctor sent me to my urologist who tested me positive for it.

I am on prescription medication for the rest of my life, as if I go off it, the bladder lining deteriorates like it did in the past.

I cannot emphasize enough just how painful it was and not just urinating.

I have a top notch Urogogist who has poked and probed me in places few have traveled. There was no Interstitial Cystitis involved in my problems, purely prostate & stone problems. Condidering the two major surgeries I've had urinary tract infections are very common for a while. I haven't had one in over a year.

Thanks for the coffee, Odie. :)

I just haven't had the time in the last few days to visit FG. Hubby and I are doing fine. We're looking forward to our vacation in the Smokey mountains in a few weeks. Tomorrow, we are invited to a family reunion.....Hubby's side of the family. They are just nice plain country folks from his Daddy's side of the family. Hubby's not 100% sure he wants to go. In the meantime, I'm barbequing a Butt roast and baking macaroni and cheese to take just in case. Us women-folk have to be prepared. :wah:

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck

Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men (and women) and so it must be daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die. ~Dwight D. Eisenhower

Sitting here, sipping coffee and munching on a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast. Hubby is working today. We go for his first BCG treatment Monday....hoping there's no complications.

The weather all round has been hot and summery, hasn't it? We all just visit the great outdoors for a brief while and retreat back into our air-conditioned homes. To go outside involves alot of water, sun glasses, sun screen and mosquito repellent. :wah:

While we were on vacation, we visited Uncle Bill's Flea Market. I bought a complete HP computer system for $50. I checked it out before I bought it. A great deal. I have it hooked up next to this one and have uploaded many of my games to it. I almost feel like a nerd.:D

My internet has been so slow lately. I have defraged and fixed errors on my system, but Windows Interent Explorer goes into it's "not responding" mode too much. :-5 That's why I haven't been here so often.
