So it's Sunday morning and Hubby has to work. I've been multi-tasking as usual. Doing the laundry, sitting here on my computer, and watching movies on TV. I'm currently catching "Desire in the Dust', a black and white southern soap opera from the 60's. The "hero" sulks or storms around in a sweaty shirt with rolled up sleeves to show off his manly biceps. I don't consider him the hero, though. There's sex, crime, and madness. The climax is coming...gotta go. :wah:

A few weeks ago, Hubby and I had our flu shots at the wellness center at work. Have you had a flu shot this season? What are your thoughts about the flu shot?
At work, I in-process newhires. So, I see alot of applications. Today, for the second time, I saw the same response to the question, "Have you ever been charged with a felony?" The answer, "Yes, for having an affair that was not consentual."
What?!!!! Is this the new term for "rape"?

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

Haunted Air: Spooky, Vintage American Halloween Photos | Entertainment | Haunted Air 13a | TIME.com
Among the bumble-bees in red-top hay, a freckled field of brown-eyed Susans dripping yellow leaves in July,
I read your heart in a book.
And your mouth of blue pansy—I know somewhere I have seen it rain-shattered.
And I have seen a woman with her head flung between her naked knees, and her head held there listening to the sea, the great naked sea shouldering a load of salt.
And the blue pansy mouth sang to the sea:
Mother of God, I’m so little a thing,
Let me sing longer,
Only a little longer.
And the sea shouldered its salt in long gray combers hauling new shapes on the beach sand.

"How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow."

My horoscope for today:
November 07, 2011
Leo (7/23-8/22)
Simply by going through your normal routine today, you will encounter something new that changes how you see many things. Get ready to meet someone who will change your opinion about an issue you hold near and dear to your heart. It may turn out that you didn't have all the information you needed. This person will give it to you, but not in a preachy in-your-face way. Just by telling their story, they will show you that you were wrong before.
Has this ever happened to you?

Motoring
(Mickey Stevenson/Ivy Jo Hunter/Phil Jones)
Hey everybody, come on, let's go for a ride, motor baby
Grab your baby & put him right by your side, motor baby
Now we'll drive down Main Street & then we're goin' over the hill, motor baby
Now we're gonna have a lot of fun
Turn your motor on & let it run, motor baby
Now put both hands on the wheel like a real good driver should, motor baby
Now lock your doors, make sure that you check your hood, motor baby
Be sure you're not movin' too fast; we want this thing to last, motor baby
Hey now, we're gonna motor all night long
& when it starts to rain, turn your wipers on, motor baby
(instrumental)
Hey, turn your motor on & rev it up fast
Now put it in gear & step on the gas & you're motorin', motor baby
Hey everybody, come on, let's go for a ride, motor baby
Grab your baby & put him right by your side, motor baby
Now, we're gonna motor all night long
& when it starts to rain, turn your wipers on, motor baby
Motorin', motor baby
Hey, we're gonna have a lot of fun
Turn on your motor & let it run, motor baby

I will be away from my computer for a few days. Going on vacation in the mountains. We usually consider this our autumn quest, but it may turn out to be more of a winter quest. :wah: Hubby and I are both looking forward to it nonetheless. It's nice to get away for awhile. I should return with pics to post. Keep the homefires burning here at FG.

We're back. We had a great time but the six hour trip and unloading the truck, and a little unpacking and a little shopping has made us near exhausted. It's nice to be home though. So...I shall be back soon after I have rested and yeah, I do have some pics.

Here I am, Lord Hymn
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people's pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my Word to them.
Whom shall I send?
I the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

Advent Traditions
The Meaning of Advent
Advent means "the coming of the Savior". It is the period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Christ on Christmas day. It refers to the four weeks before Christmas. It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas which is oftentimes the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It is a time of hope and anticipation of the coming of Christ.
Advent Wreath
The four sundays of advent are often celebrated with four candles on an Advent Wreath, with one to be lit each Sunday. The first, second and fourth candles are traditionally purple, but the third candle is rose-colored. A fifth white candle is often lit on Christmas day in the center of the Advent wreath.

I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. ~Charles Dickens

Hey grumpy! Thanks for popping in and posting.
Christmas in my world: We will not get an holiday vacation from our job. However, we will get paid for Christmas Sunday. I have sent a few Christmas cards and wrapped a few gifts. I have my little Christmas tree lit up in our living room. This time of year I always wish I could be 3 places at one time. Here, ofcourse with Hubby and two of my adult children. :-4 But also in North Dakota with other son and his wife and my grandchildren and in Maryland with my Dad and brothers and sisters.
Money is just too tight...even with Hubby and I working. But, I am determined to count my blessing and hold the true meaning of Christmas in my heart.
