Ghost Town in the Sky, Maggie Valley NC
Due to a mudslide a few years ago, the attraction has been closed for awhile. Right now, it has a new owner, who is planning to reopen it, but with a different theme. We got to ride the chair-lift up the mountain and look around (for a reduced admission). It is still under construction.

I took this picture at the big Flea Market in Tennessee.
I'm a "people watcher" so besides browsing the goods, I look at the folks. I noticed this fellow and just thought I'd capture him as he walked away.

August
She dreams of August in the singing morning..
When all the little things come out to play,
When every spider's web is sticky, lacy,
And every kid will have the pinkest day.
She fell in love in August as a girl...
His smile was melting smooth like green ice cream,
She wanted him in August and she got him,
He was her love, her every glowing dream.
August takes you back to yellow meadows,
To days when Grandmas made you lemonade,
To nights when how you begged to stay out later,
And afternoons with novels in the shade.
To kittens that you loved
and have forgotten...
To mom and dad who loved you for all time..
To him who waited somewhere in the hot night..
To kisses made of moonbeams..green as lime..
August, sultry August, month of magic....
Dragonflies become you...you are rare,
Fireflys annoint you with their glowing...
August burning month...your love I wear.

And hate the bright stillness of the noon
without wind, without motion.
the only other living thing
a hawk, hungry for prey, suspended
in the blinding, sunlit blue.
And yet how gentle it seems to someone
raised in a landscape short of rain—
the skyline of a hill broken by no more
trees than one can count, the grass,
the empty sky, the wish for water."
- Dana Gioia, California Hills in August

Hubby and I had to go see about making some changes to our vehicle insurance after work today. We changed to another insurance company and the payments are cheaper for the same coverage. So we accomplished something.
I had to renew my driver's license a few weeks ago. I needed to present a social security card, my birth certificate, 2 proofs of residency, a pay stub, and my marriage license. Everyone needs to present these documents( or a current passport or permanent resident card)..even just to renew.
Wow..........thing things you have to do to drive in the US. :driving:

School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Readin’ and ‘ritin’ and ‘rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate
“I love you, so”
When we were a couple of kids
Nothing to do, Nellie Darling
Nothing to do you say
Let’s take a trip on memory’s ship
Back to the bygone days
Sail to the old village school house
Anchor outside the school door
Look in and see
There’s you and there’s me
A couple of kids once more
School days, school days
Dear old golden rule days
Readin’ and ‘ritin’ and ‘rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hickory stick
You were my queen in calico
I was your bashful barefoot beau
And you wrote on my slate
“I love you, so”
When we were a couple of kids

I was in enough to get along with people. I was never socially inarticulate. Not a loner. And that saved my life, saved my sanity. That and the writing. But to this day I distrust anybody who thought school was a good time. Anybody.
