Ducky, unfortunately, if you are getting a grant for such things you have to just stand in line ! As we cannot afford to get the job done privately and pay for it ourselves, we had to get the grant (available for senior citizens ). Can't really say too much as it is being done as a freebie ! Well OK we have paid the government flippin taxes all our working lives, but certain benefits for senior citizens have only been introduced here in the last few years. So before then pensioners only got their pensions and not much else !

Hi Mussy ! We used to own a Morris 1000 traveller, like the pic only ivory colour where this one is black. When I was in the band, I was able to stow my amp., guitar (in hard case), case containing clothes etc, box containing extra bits like effects pedals, mike, stand, etc etc, in the very back behind the back seat, and it was all held securely and wedged in. My hubby got another vehicle, so this one was MINE !!!! Somebody callled it a nuts and bolts car, and they were right. Under the bonnet there was good room to work on any part of the engine, and if anything needed work doing to it, or replacing, even I could attend to it ! I even stripped the engine down and put a replacement cylinder head gasket on. Had the valves ground at the time (that was done by hand by a friend of my brother - too much like hard graft for me :D). When it was all sorted and bedded in properly, she really flew along ! Once, in an emergency, I got 100 out of her and she was rock solid at that, and there was more to come but I thought I had better not :yh_rotfl :yh_rotfl :driving: By the way, she had a crank handle as well, so if the battery went flat for any reason, I could pop the crank handle in the special socket through the radiator, crank it round once and she would start straight away! You just can't do that with modern cars, you have to have a tow-start, a jump-lead start (both of which need another vehicle in attendance), or simply have it towed to your local garage etc etc. No the Morris Traveller was a brilliant car and we owned it for many years!

Just on the outside or does it do it to the inside as well. Just think, you could be driving a Fred Flintstone car if you had that problem.

Actually Ducky, it doesn't happen all that often ! But if a vehicle is left in a barn or shed and neglected for years, the woodwork framing on the outside from the rear of the front doors is at risk of attack by wood-boring insects and rot. Then the wood framing has to be totally replaced, not cheap. There are still one or two small companies in the UK who can make these, for those who still own one of these Morris Travellers. I have been told that in Australia and possibly the USA they are referred to as a 'Half timbered car' , (no doubt after the half-timbered houses that were built in Elizabethan times), or, in the USA, as a shooting brake. :)

Looking forward to the weekend. Probably go do some shopping with the hubby and out for lunch. You have any plans for the weekend?

Hi Idgie ! I hope you had a good day yesterday (friday), mine was a bit quiet, but I think we plan to go out for a trip in the country as it's such a pleasant Spring-like day, today (Saturday) ! It will do us all good - I'm getting a bit of 'cabin fever' here (the others have been out and about, but I've not been out for probably 2 weeks !). Yes we're managing to keep warm thank goodness, and the weather is now picking up a little ! Take care ! :-6 :)

Yes, the weather was spring like this morning. Getting cloudy and we are having rain tomorrow. Won't be here on Sunday as too much stuff is going on & we might go out for lunch.

Hi Gill. Well, we never did make it out to lunch on Sunday. Hopefully next weekend as we got loads of restaurant gift cards at Christmas. I would love to go to my fave place the Outback Steakhouse...the most scrumptious burgers to die for.:-4 Might go there when Quin makes him first communion in April. I can't wait for that to be over with as our current priest is such a jerk and he makes any kid who has to make a sacrament sign some silly book everytime they go to church:-5. Can't wait till that pr*ck retires.:wah: Besides, he's very rude to parishoners especially adults.:-5

Hopefully he'll take the steely blue eyed b*tch with him that is the principal of our school. He managed to run the other nun out. The man is a genuine pr*ck. I always says to my friend "the archdiocese must have been low on nice priests when they confirmed this ahole". When we got our stimulus checks last year he wanted peeps in the parish to donate the money:wah:. He never got a dime from us. Turns out that the a/c had broken down and he needed fast cash but unfortunatly, he turned so many peeps off with his snotty attitude that not many gave him a dime.:wah:

Good to hear you're keeping warm and the weather is improving by you. It's snowing again by me. Don't think Spring wants to arrive this year. :p

Hope you got out of the house and took your trip. We went for a ride Saturday, ate out and did some shopping. Was a gorgeous day! Then Sunday, the snow hit again. Oh well, made the best of it by cleaning house.

Have a good day, my friend! :-6

Hi Idgie, yes we managed to get a very enjoyable trip in. Sunny all day and most pleasant. Hubby and Andy took our dog for a good old walk/run along the canal towpath, and when they came back we had a coffee at the canalside pub - which was very busy with walkers and people just driving down to sit near the canal and watch the ducks and large fish swimming about. I really miss living in the countryside. :-6 :)

Sorry you couldn't make your Sunday lunch trip, Ducky, fingers crossed for next week then!;)

You know it really gets me how such pratts manage to con whoever into allowing them to become priests ! Surely they are supposed to be an example to people on how to behave towards their fellow 'man'. Strikes me they do more harm than good, as they must drive more people away from the church than they manage to encourage into it !! Those sort of priests, IMO, do not behave in a very christianly manner, and are certainly not a good example in front of children. :(

The priest who was there when we joined was so nice and knew every kids name in the school. This current moron only knows a handful of children in the school. I will not allow my children to be alter servers around him as he is known for screaming at the children who do it. I remember when we got Quin baptized and so I called the rectory and explained that the baby had to be baptized, etc. and this moron kept insisting that he would do the deed....over my dead body, :wah:. We got another priest to do the honors. It's a shame though as moron couldn't stand the thought of the peeps in church who really liked the other priest and he put the screws to him.:-5

Definitely how to encourage more people to attend his church..................NOT......

Is there any possibility of writing a complaint, along with other complainants, to his seniors? Saying that you avoid going to church because this man is so nasty !! :(

Yes, peeps tried to no avail. He leaves in 2012. Maybe he'll get run over by the trolley that goes by everyday:wah: My friend was building a deck a year ago and the lumber co. dropped off the lumber to her house.
