Doesn't a dog talk in that?!

Was it realistic or something mystical? :-2

It sounds good but I have never had the chance to read it.

All of the dogs "talk", at least to our heroine. It's laugh-out-loud funny, and often touching and sweet.

Current projects are The Magician: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott and The Giver by Lois Lowry. The former is technically teen lit, but I had my mother read it and she LOVED it. The latter is a book my mother gave me when I was a preteen...it's one of the best books I've ever read. It's deep, and it makes the reader think. I recommend it for anyone, regardless of age.

I've just finished reading two books from my book club -

Infidel - Ayaan Hirsi Ali

and

The Gurensey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Mary Ann Shaffer

Both excellent, scarily thought provoking, and impossible to put down.

Just because a book is labelled TEEN or CHILDREN'S doesn't mean it isn't a deep, well written, and REAL story. Look at the Harry Potter novels... (I'm a fan) Those are NOT kid's stories.

Anyone read the last one? IT'S A WAR... and people die (and magical creatures.)

*starts singing* 'And all the little children...!" oh...not appropriate? I'll stop now. :D (for those who don't know the song it's Jesus loves all the little children.)

Exactly. Some of the best books I've ever read are from the Teen/Young Adult or Children's section. All-time favorite: The Black Stallion by Walter Farley.

I think Deathly Hallows (HP7) is my least favorite of all the HP books. Sure, it was good, but it wasn't...it didn't go out the way a lot of people (including me) thought it would/should/whatever.

Seriously? Those are a staple for horse-lovers (especially horse-crazy little girls).

Ahh, you're a manga-reader too? I'm working on Bleach, Naruto, Fruits Basket, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Saiyuki, and Vampire Knight right now.

Yes - Manga is a great love of mine.

Fruits Basket is a wonderful manga - I have read it all ( I think....) But I'm in the middle of BUYING the individual volumes.

And I have only read small amounts of Saiyuki but I LOVE LOVE the anime. Each character is beautifully developed and just laugh out loud entertaining!

I must buy Saiyuki Reload when I get the chance...

Today - Psychology of Harry Potter. (AMAZING! I loved it)

Have also just finished a book called Kaneko's Story.

I'm going to start a new book as soon as I can find it. I'm reading it for a book discussion group I belong to.

The book is called "My Lady Judge" by Cora Harrison.

It takes place in the 12th century in Ireland and is a murder mystery.

Is anyone familar with this book?
