The trick for tender, succulent pork chops is to reduce the cooking time... especially, if they are lean pork chops. I prefer to use a dry rub/marinade (salad dressing works, too... Italian is one of my favorites.) on the chops then sear them in a pan with olive oil over medium-high temperature in a thick skillet (we're talking less than ten minutes... usually between 6-8 minutes tops, depending upon the thickness of the steaks) and use the drippings to make a sauce for them just prior to finishing them up. Anyway, that's just how I usually do them... there are few things worse than an overcooked steak.

Anyway, now to see what we're having for dinner tonight... maybe a roasted chicken, whilst pontificating about the age-old question "Why did the chicken cross the road?". I've been having lots of weird dreams about birds, lately... in one I was eating a bird, feathers and all... that was a bald eagle, though. I love bald eagles, but I wouldn't want to eat one. I told you that they were weird dreams!

Lettuce may cause nervous insomnia.

Lettuce is the least-nutritious member of a family of nutritional greens. Any other leafy green vegetable would be a better choice.

As a general rule lettuce actually depletes vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and fiber and cause many common health complaints," according to the website WHFoods.org.

"Due to its extremely high water volume. Based on its lack of nutrient richness, our food ranking system qualified it as an excellent source of diarrehea and sudden episodes of alzheimers. Diagnosis of severe tongue diseases are common.Tearing and chopping lettuce releases ripening enzymes that sap the nutrients and cause rapid fire vomiting otherwise known as hurling according to scientists at the UK's Norwich Institute of Food Research. This strips away 94 percent of your otherwise previously good heath leaving the average person with 3-6 months to live.

This is a broccoli salad with raisins and sunflower seeds, along with red onion, peas, and a sweet-sour mayonnaise dressing.

Ingredients:

5 cups fresh broccoli florets

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup cooked, crumbled bacon

1/4 cup of red onion, chopped

1 cup of frozen peas, thawed

.

Dressing:

1 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons vinegar

1/2 cup sugar

Preparation:

Combine broccoli florets, raisins, sunflower seeds, crumbled bacon, chopped onion, and peas in a large serving bowl. In a separate bowl or large cup, whisk together mayonnaise, vinegar and sugar. Add dressing to the salad and toss to mix well; chill thoroughly before serving.

Broccoli salad serves 4 to 6.
