What are you having or had for dinner?

Post by Kathy Ellen »

:wah:Odie...I don't have the energy, but find cooking really relaxing. I'm also hungry, but need to eat some tasty food.

I'm going to make some "chicken comfort" later on or tomorrow.

I don't like to come home during the week and start cooking. So, I'll cook up a storm, put them into individual containers, freeze and use during the week. I also make extra sauce for quick meals.

I also hooked up my breadmaker and will begin making my own bread, and also dough for homemade pizza.

:-6 I look forward to grilling during the summer and breadmaker and panini maker for the winter.

I also pulled out my pasta maker and will try to properly learn how to make my own pasta next weekend. I used it a few times and the pasta didn't turn out the way I expected it to, but it was absolutely delicious.....WOW, your mouth just smiles when you taste the fresh, homemade pasta with the arriabiata sauce:-4

Today it will probably involve salami, cheese on crackers washed down by cold Coors beer. Lots of it. It's raining out and i'm in a beer drinking mood. Wish I could make it to my old bar hang out. No point in it though. Bar has new owners. My old barmaid's that looked after me are gone. My old drinking/huntin/fishin/ carousin pals are gone/married/dead. Damn, I'm working myself into a blue funk. Gotta tune in on Obama on TV. That idiot's antics always gives me a laugh.:(

Fresh asparagus is easy, Kathy.

Snap off the ends manually. Then rinse and grill very lightly with a dash of oil, pan fry quickly in butter or steam. I usually do one of the last two. In the pan, sizzle the butter, put the asparagus in and the lid on and turn off the heat immediately. To steam, stand them up on their stems in a small saucepan of boiling water, turn stove off and leave for a minute or two only. If you want them cold in a salad, rinse quickly after steaming in cold water, or they'll continue cooking. I LOVE ASPARAGUS.

The green ones are good here right now, and I've seen some white variety too. Sometimes we get purple as well.

Bon appetit!!!

Garlic goes well with most things, Ducky!! Grin.

Hi Kathy!!! Sometimes I put a thin slice of good swiss style cheese over the asparagus just to melt quickly... Nice flavour there too.

But good fresh asparagus stands very well just on its own.

It'll have to be a coin toss I guess. Number one son keeps bringing home ducks he shot in the swamp south of town and son number two shot a fat corn fed midwest deer with his bow and arrow last Saturday. So, it'll be either duck or venison. Yummy.

My kitchen is a mess, but I just made a delicious pot of sausage, peppers and onions with arriabiata sauce. I added tons of spices, hot peppers and sauce, and lots of herbs.

I love to cook like this as I can make 6 meals out of this and freeze them to be used during the week when I'm working.

I'm also going to make some hot salsa and chicken comfort tomorrow.

Nomad is ruled out on accounta the possibility of lutefisk or worse...

Mustang - possible????

(indignantly) You mean my culinary triumph in honour of Shocking - Jump Started Electric Eales, followed by Lottashokkacawfee - isn't good enough?

AussiePam regrets that Clodhopper's non-Epicurean offering is probably* not acceptable.

-----

Blimey - if ya hadn't edited that to add the smiley so I'd see you were joking Snookums, I'd never have known!! You were joking, weren't you? I mean I LOVE the IDEA of fellas killing themselves left right and centre because of my whimsical flightiness, my merciless cruelty, my femme fatality - but the reality can be messy. Especially if they jump off a patio. That could be a fall of several inches. And might end very badly.

But you flounced.. and slammed!!! Look I know you have a very fine role model in this stylish drama queenery (moi!!) but just a wee word in your shell like ear... A goddess doesn't like to be upstaged in her own personal artform. I suggest that an ailing knight-at-arms should perhaps rather cultivate the alone-and-palely-loitering look. Sedge and strictly no birdsong..

:D

*probably because there is some doubt what is involved..

It's the femme fatality. I can't help it.

The patio is as you say, only a few inches high, so I've got to throw myself off it several hundred times to achieve a fatal total height.

You do realise this will seriously interfere with my cooking?
