Hi Along,

If you like old photos, maybe I'll post some of my father's pictures in Alaska when he was 2...

Thank you so much for the photos, Kathy Allen. :) Your Dad was an adorable little boy. I've seen a photo of my Dad with long curly hair as a small boy. I heard that was the style then.(He was born in 1927.)

Well, I'm opening up the ole photo album again. Let's see what moments in the past we can share with a stranger. I would like to thank these folks and the photgraphers for this little miracle. :-6

A little about me as a member of this Forum. I've gone over many of my replies and notice that I may seem a bit "flip" at times. I just like to be direct and to the point. Sometimes less is more. Everything I have ever posted about myself is the truth. That is my humble gift to you.

Sometimes you may notice that I give Nomad a hard time. I do this because I know that he can take as good as he gives........and I do like him.

I am in awe of our obviously intellegent members and their contributions. I appreciate the knowledge and the viewpoints I get from them. Gallbally is one of these people. They inspire me.

I enjoy the jokes and the comments made by others. Funny, fascinating, warm-hearted, loyal. After you've been here for awhile and get to know each other, it almost feels like a family here. When someone is sad or hurting, I do care. I wish I could be there with them to show my support as a friend. I am also glad for a member's achievements and successes. Again, I wish I could be there to pat them on the back.

Maybe in this world what we post in this forum is not important in the scheme of things. But I just want you to know that you matter........to me. Even if we never meet face-to-face, I am glad that I share part of my life with you all.

I've already posted this photo in another thread........but it deserves another post. This is a photo of my Mom as a young woman..taken at the time she was courting my Dad. :)

I also miss my Mom very much. We used to have some good chats and good laughs together, and she was a hugger. She had a lovely singing voice and was a talented artist. She was a stay-at-home Mom taking care of ultimately 6 children. I am the oldest. Her birthday would have been Monday. She would have been 78.

Back around Christmastime, I believe it was Red Glitter who came up with the idea of members recording a brief holiday greeting. That was a cool idea. I have another idea for now...............let's have a brief recording of our laughter. Let's have our own laugh track. Just for fun.:)

If you have a microphone installed with your computer, go to Programs; Accessories; Entertainment; Sound Recorder. Think of something funny and laugh. Save your laugh to your Documents; My Music folder as a "wav" file. I have Windows XP.

Let's see how many volunteers we'll have. :wah:

Many of you, I'm sure, have been through this. I'm so happy my hubby is doing well after surgery and being in the hospital for awhile. I'm so glad to have him home and count my blessings. :) Then........ the hospital bills starting coming in the mail. Even with insurance, we will still owe several thousand dollars. What we will have to do, ofcourse, is pay a little each month. He did get great medical treatment and we will pay the bills for this treatment...........it will just have take time. We don't have several thousand dollars on hand right now....plus we still have our other monthly bills to pay.

I'm just venting a little. We do have great medical care in this country, but this care comes at a cost. Even with insurance.

Any thoughts?

I sympathise "Along for the ride". My husband is recovering from advanced cancer & major open surgery. He is doing well also but in this country, all medical care is automatically free. It feels a little unfair for your husband & you, almost as if you are penalised if your ill. No-body is this country is in this difficult financial position if they fall ill. We pay into the NHS system via our salery by a contribution system but many who take advantage of the benifit system have never worked a day in their lives & benifit from the same care. Seems unfair to me.

Sounds like a good health care system, Oscar. I wish the USA would get it's act together and initiate a system such as that. There will always be people who take advantage of any benefits........whether they deserve them or not.

AFTR, sorry I keep missing this thread like others are :( Ever think of creating your own room (AFTR's Room) in the Member News section. I know more members visit there than in here. Well, with that said...how are you and hubby doing these days? I just got done visiting the nursing home and taking a big basket full of free samples I have requested. Well, you would have thought it was Christmas with all the smiles. It's hard to do but I know most of the time I am the only one that comes in and puts that smile on their face. Sorry, sounds like I feel "sorry" for them which I don't. Every time I leave there I think I leave with a bigger smile than they gave me. Hope all is well with you and hubby and I will stop back as soon as I can. BTW, I loved your pic in the FG video ;)

A co-worker forwarded this to me the other day. I usually browse these "forward to all your friends" e-mails, then, delete them. But I kept it because I like the sentiments. In the future, I will add one more thought with an illustration for your enjoyment,

ENLIGHTENED PERSPECTIVE

If you take the time to read these, you may come away with an enlightened perspective. The subjects covered affect us all on a daily basis. They're written by Andy Rooney, a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words.

1. "I've learned.........that the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person."

:)I like the picture below. I can see myself sitting on the porch with this lady and just listening to her talk about her life.

7. I've learned that...........I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him/her in some other way.

When I do pray, I don't like to make a big deal about it. That moment is just a quiet, humble, heart-felt communication between myself and my God.
