Did you know that GMT is being superseded by Universal Time (UT) which is based in Paris?

No way!! Everybody in the world would have to adjust their time! Not to mention their telescopes which are based on GMT! Compasses, navigation not to mention longitude and latitude!

LOL! Maybe the french think they are!:wah:

Paris is one hour ahead of us. I'll have to find the references to this, but I believe that it is happening behind the scenes at the moment, i.e. it is not being broadcast to the general public at the moment. UT zero would cause a shift. there is an impracticality to all this which is apparent to us who are not involved in politics. But politics has spawned greater chaos than a mere shift in world time.

Whatever it was I came across I cannot find. I concede to the wealth of material explaining UTC, UT0, UT1, UT2, ABT, and so on. Oh, and mustn't forget a couple of ref to decimal time.

Valerie it's incredible the fun we are having! It's been pure magic from the word go! Now it seems, all of us have little side trips we're doing together.

It's like we're old friends from way back. It's really hard to explain other than a big bunch of kindred spirits.

Fantastic....did you go by river bus ? Did you see the Dome ? Can't wait for the pics.

You're gonna need a GIANT scrap book to cover the last 2 weeks...hope you kept all your entry tickets etc ... maybe we should copy and post some here so that Nomad has PROOF that the last 2 weeks weren't a giant hoax ...:D

Oh I am glad to see that the three of you are having such a great time. And you have been to Greenwich, I've been there and as you say, there is so much to do and see that it's a brilliant place to visit. I was lucky enough to visit the dome when it was up, and despite all the criticsm is came under, I thought it was a great day out and well worth the entrance fee. And a lot more informative than I had first thought!!

Hehehe you know that when the flood gates open and all these pictures appear, it wouldn't surprise me if the server blew a gasket hahaha. Anyways please keep us informed on how events are going!!

I went to the Dome Chris and had a fantastic day. I think the media were so negative that people stayed away. I loved it...went from The Eye on a river bus which added to the enjoyment.

That's exactly right Bez. My parents were a little unsure as to whether to visit the Dome, considering all the negative comments that were flying about, but we loved the day, and didn't even manage to get around the whole site and see everything on show. It's not often that places provide such a mixture of fun, education, excitement and exploration, but I felt that the Dome had all of that and more.

Shame that we were unable to take that River cruise after or before the Eye, as I hear that's it a fantastic experience, and I for one, was really looking forward to it.

The Elephant and the Sultan.

Tonight at 7.10pm on BBC Four, Channel 116.

BBC4 are showing a documentary tracking the recent free theatre spectacle of a 40-foot articulated elephant, contining a sultan and his harem, weaving through the streets of central London.

For anyone who wants to see and/or remember what went on that day, Don't Miss This! :-3

And a pint to the first person who can spot an FG member in the crowd!! :D

Well gang, Minks is in paris! She was met by her buddy at the arch de triumph.

After dropping her off at the airport this morning, and what a ride THAT was, Voodoo and I went strolling around covent garden. What a place that is!

And guess what else?? While we were still in the airport I decided to check terminal 3 lost property and lo and behold! THEY HAD MY PHONE!!! So for all of you who were concerned, if you get any cranks, no worries! It's just me!!:yh_bigsmi

Cheeky buggers charged me £5 just for babysitting my phone for 2 weeks!:-2

Rapunzel, Betty had left me one before she left, (of which I am very grateful!) And since we intend to take her up on her offer in July, she can have it back if she wishes!

We thought it was gone forever too! BTW...we're working on getting the pics together now!

if anyone can get their hands on a copy of that special, I would love a copy to show off here it was amazing. Just another bit to add to my colletive momento's sigh I already wanna come back. Flipping a coin between new living room furniture or a return trip to England ahahaha I am serious.

Oh, for me that would be a no-brainer, Minksie. You can get furniture anytime. If you've got the chance, go back!! Or, better yet, use that money to come here when we all get together!! It's got to be cheaper to travel to the US than to England. Of course, from where I am, Canada is a day trip. We're 25 minutes from the bridge to Canada.

Then again....Canada is kind of a big place...it depends on where you are. :yh_bigsmi
