Hi Duck,
What a shame....yes, I'm flying in to Atlantic City about 6 tonight.....hope all goes well...hate flying in the rain.
So sorry for your daughter....has it rained all weekend.....what part of the shore did she go to.....I can't go into the water till July...too cold for me.

btw we call a barbecue a "braai" pronounced BRI or BRY ... its an afrikaans word but all us english people use it and even the indigenous black people here use the word ...
a lot of our food is like very american cos there is a very big american influence here in terms of fast foods ... we have all the usual outlets like KFC McDonalds wimpy etc ..

most of out traditional foods are sort of based on the dutch/holland recipes as the dutch were the first colonists arriving here in the 17th century ...

Umm, Idgie if you ever get to the beach, they serve it at almost every restaurant. Very good with a marinara dipping sauce.

my paternal ancestors the ones who came from france owned a huge plantation here, it's since been divided up and given to their children and gradchildren down through the years, but i've got several ancestors who fought in the civil war and one who fought in the revolutionary war!
gone with the wind is one of my favorites too, have you read the sequel Scarlett?
