no sh*t? we have one now that is ex military. thinks he knows al about hand-to-hand. and no doubt he probably does know a lot.

another is a "Gun Nut" and dang can he shoot. but he needs a great deal of help with the books.

most police recruits are ex-military. they do make good recruits because they accustomed to the chain of command. but they sometimes need to unlearn some weapons habits.

yeah they can follow orders. but from what i've seen the academy wants officers that can think. on their own. that's a lot of "unlearning" to do.

the old "southern sheriff" days are over, cops today need to be educated in the law, cognizant of liability, and smart. one thing you will need is the abilty to write a cogent and precise report. it's a legal document.

that i have down pat.

we write incident reports for work all the time. i'm the one everyone comes to, to make sure everything fits.

what's up this week? do you have to take state cert test? we take it and then have to requalify every few months to keep it.

i don't take that until sometime in january.

Monday. i've been working with my hometown's chief. he was an instructor of 7 or 8 years.

i'm almost over whelmed at how much information they've been throwing at me. getting a little tricky keeping it straight, ya know?

the law can be interpreted in so many different ways.

and there's so freaking many.

city ordinances, municipal codes, county statutes, state law. holy moly!

i learned this in law school...you don't need to know all the law, only how to interpret it. learn how to read it and understand it. and on the state exam they don't expect you to be a lawyer.

i am better at it than i thought. Sgt Miller has been having me take others aside and give them some "one-on-one" to practice subduing someone.

i told you watching the WWF would come in handy.

i was able to get Sgt Miller down and tied up to where he couldn't reach his weapon, pepper spray, or baton.

he asked me what that was and i told him it was called a "Taz-mission"

we get tasered, shot with a "bean-bag" round, sprayed, and something else. i can't remember.

January 9th we go to the driving course. Mu-Wahahahahahahaha!

the driving course is fun until you run over the instructor. :wah: like my friend did. you need split-second reflexes. you have to drive in a water skid, shuffle-steer ( i can't) and then decide in one-half second where to turn. as for being shot and tased, that simunition hurts like a bitch.

Uhmmm.... ok.

i am getting very good at the range too. it took a while but they finally convinced me that i could NOT carry a shotgun as my primary weapon.

i want a Sig Sauer. Bad.

forget the sig. get a smith 9. trust me.

and the shotgun is only for shotgun seat in car, you won't need it.

Oh, now. when did you loose your sense of humor?? you used to laugh at stupid shiite like that.guess i had a bad day. here's the pepper-spray story...i was the most frightened of anyone about getting sprayed. i knew i was gonna DIE. so when LT sprayed us it didn't bother me. my macho buddies were laying on the ground crying for their mommies. so LT did me 3 times, i spit in his face. the whole thing was taped. so now it's used as an example why you can't count on pepper spray. it won't always work.

I got a Job offer from Whiteside County Sheriff's Department in Illinois. I have been out there once and I got a call to go back and interview again. I'm going out Friday morning and spending the weekend with my sis, BIL, and niece&nephew. wish me luck.
