Daffy, stop talking about yourself in the 3rd person, it's quite pretentious.

What about 'Who wants to be executed?' Chris Tarrant could ask contestants (from the other side of toughened glass) questions, if they only reach the land mark £1,000 they get 'slow and painful death', £32,000 they get 'quick, but painful death', £1,000,000 they get... electrocuted in their seat! It was an electric chair all along, d'oh stupid criminals...

WOW! no time wasted here!! 18 January 2006, 04:36 GMT

Pair face death for Horton murder

The men were sentenced to be executed by lethal injection

Two Thai fishermen who confessed to the rape and murder of Briton Katherine Horton have been condemned to death.

Wichai Somkhaoyai, 24 and Bualoi Posit, 23, face death by lethal injection for the murder of the 21-year-old Cardiff student at Koh Samui on New Year's Day.

Thailand's prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra had declared the men should face the maximum penalty because of damage done to the country's image.

The BBC's Kylie Morris said there is likely to be an appeal by the men.

The trial of the two fishermen accused of raping and murdering Miss Horton took place on Friday in Surat Thani.

Witness statements

It took just over an hour for the judge to announce the verdict during Wednesday's hearing. Before the verdict, one of the two assisting judges read out the evidence against the two men.

Katherine Horton's body was found on 2 January

This included witness statements, including those made by crew members on the fishermen's boat, and from backpackers who had last seen Miss Horton.

Our correspondent said it was mentioned on several occasions in the court how the men had "effectively left Katherine for dead" and how it was possible she was still alive when they left her and the suggestion was they had left her to drown after having raped her.

The attack took place at 2100 local time on New Year's Day, close to where Miss Horton was staying on Lamai Beach, on the island of Koh Samui.

Her body was washed up the next morning on a remote beach a few kilometres away where it was found by a water biker.

Beaten

Her mother has said she does not believe her daughter's killers should be executed.

Elizabeth Horton told BBC Wales she did not support the death penalty, but said she was not making a plea for clemency.

The court heard Miss Horton was beaten with a parasol pole and later dragged out to sea off Koh Samui where she drowned.

The one-day trial was told that the men had been watching pornographic films on their boat on the evening of 1 January. They then swam ashore and attacked Miss Horton on the beach as she talked to her mother on her mobile phone.

And tell me why you think you have the right, forget about everything else,

forget about what any individual as done, tell me why you think any human being as the right to kill another human being.

What about all the ppl wrongly convicted, and sent to there deaths only to discover they were inocent, what about them???????

How can anyone be this way, i cant understand it,
In this particular case, when incarceration has been tried and he still successfully caused murder, we not only have the right, but the obligation to remove him. Physical separation did not work, so we must - must - take a next step. Lobotomy would be acceptable but silly, imo. Besides, many would cry out that it was cruel and inhumane.

I am in full agreement that we must do absolutely everything we can to ascertain a person's guilt before execution. That guilt must be absolute and without doubt. But in instances such as this guy, what choice do we have?

How about this, let one family member be on the firing squad. As per normal procedure, one gun at random would have blanks. Closure and a chance at redemption at the same time!:D
I'm cool with a large syringe of air into an artery. Cheaper. But if we involve a family member we have to be prepared to provide psychological care for life, if needed ... and it would be needed in most cases.

Ahh...I see now. You're in Yorkshire. You're absolutely right, YOU don't have the right to defend yourself or your family. Here in the States, we do.

How difficult is it to understand that you cannot defend yourselves with deadly force if neccessary? I'm sorry I'm not making sense to you, I'll try to use smaller words.

Oh and P.S., I'll post when and wherever I chose. Your permission is not required.

I'll put it real plainly for ya,

If someone I loved were being threatened with death by another person, I would pull my gun and kill the person trying to harm my loved one. You can't do that because you are not allowed guns.

Make sense now, sunshine? 'Kay then.

She's got a point you guys. You're against the death penalty because you live in a controlled society. We are free here. Freedom carries risks. As I recall, that's exactly why we left England and started up our own country in the first place. LOL!:wah:

Funny you should ask that. Do a little homework around here and you'll find out for yourself.

And what is your POINT, anyway? What difference does it make how often the scenario presents itself, when the point is it is my RIGHT to bear arms?

But that's just the point isn't it? You've got the right to bear arms, but the homicidal intruder also has the right to bear arms.

And funnily enough, I happen to think that the increase in gun crime in Britain has a lot to do with the kids over here being influenced by American 'Gangsta' rap, they think it's really cool to hold their guns on one side as they shoot the poor sod that they've just mugged. Hmm...a very noble legacy of the right to bear arms.

You really do need to do more homework before you sink yourself into this debate. The "homicidal intruder" probably obtained his weapon illegally, whereas the typical LAW-ABIDING gun owner goes through the proper channels.

And of course, place the blame for YOUR childrens' criminal behavior squarely on AMERICAN "gangsta" rap. Makes perfect sense.

It certainly does make perfect sense. And if guns were not easily bought and sold over there then an illegal firearm may not be so easy to come by, just a thought...
