Oh dear, this is quite embarrassing. I did not post a goodbye in order to have people beg me to stay, as has been suggested, I just thought it rather rude to vanish without a word.

There are, however, a few things in this thread that need clearing up: Accountable, please do not say things that are not true. I replied to your PM (is it not customary to regard the contents of PMs as confidential?) by thanking you most sincerely for your apology. I now thank you again, in public. It was decent of you and I have no further issues in this respect.

Another poster has said that nobody was rude. I beg to differ:

HONEY, I'M MAKING SURE YOU GO TO THE HEAD OF THAT LIST!

That far from my callous sarcasm that one poster has mentioned, it was all self-mockery, I "disgraced myself" and shocked the civilised locals by getting virtually drunk on my first visit to the virtual pub and made a mess. It was a joke - oh god, this is excruciating!

Then the mid-thread instructions, the proprietary attitude to the forum:

"Uh, I thought LadyCop started the thread? What am I missing?"

"We quite often have lively debate around here, but for the most part

There is something incestuous and oh-so-heavy in all these bizarre messages and misunderstandings. This is why I decided I did not want to stay with the forum and tip-toe through the labyrinth of unspoken understandings and complicated status systems and alpha-female rivalries.

My e-mail inbox is full of notifications that I have not been able to access, sorry, but thanks to all for the unread messages.

I recently suggested some newbies might like to pooper-scooper the garden. I'd like to point out here that I did not 'disgrace myself' by producing the stuff that needed pooper-scoopering.......just in case ya thought it was me! hehehehehe

As for the rest....it's easy to misunderstand others when you can't see their faces or hear their tone of voice!

Some people see manure.........some people see the beautiful roses that grow from it!

Personally, I think we've had enough manure delivered recently to feed the roses til next year. So, as we're all adults here (physically at least! hehehe ;) ) why not just shake hands, agree it was a misunderstanding between "cousins" from either side of the pond, then go and drink some of that pond water....erm...I mean, delicious brew, of course (hehehe *whew*) and chill out together? hmmm?? :)

In my opinion, you are not the one that needs to be embarrassed in this situation. Please stay and sing in the chorus. Just ignore the ones that try to steal the spotlight. The audience usually does.

not that I know anything about the current issue but I've decided to paste this delicious item whenever I see one of these from now on.

You've joined the ranks of the best Ruth. I clearly recall BR and LC (twice) saying 'goodbye, cruel world'. Then Captn Buzzard. Recently, Jives. (how ya doin'?) When people mean to leave the usually just do. If you actually do leave, perhaps I will be worse off for not having really gotten to know you. If you stay, have a good chuckle and shake it off.

the following attachment goes out to all the great speeches that have come and gone. (and then come back)

If you care to re-hash old "goodbye" threads, then maybe you should have all the information. You do not know what went on behind the scenes in that particular instance (and it was once, not twice, as if that matters somehow). I will not re-hash them now for several reason, one being it's none of your business, another being I don't wish to embarrass anyone. Just next time, have all your facts before you prattle on.

As to the original topic and why it was brought up, I'd consider someone referring to being in the pub as "slumming" rather offensive myself. And since we don't know Ruth well yet, it was her obligation to make it clear she was joking, and not being an ass.

Wow that was something... misunderstandings tend to occur often with text... that's one of the reasons for the introduction of emoticons. I tried to speed read over it and there seems to be plenty of contradictions... maybe things will work themselves after the smoke clears?

What I meant to say was that Jives has been around along time and has forged some friendships and didnt make quick judgements about anyone like I FEEL Ruth might have. I didnt mean for it to sound like I thought anyone was more important than the other. Please forgive me.
