I assume FG should have NO volunteers to delete spam? I assume that you should not be allowed to create a group and discuss items of interest in an environment where YOU can moderate the trolls or disinterested participants?
here's the problem. koan posted a thread in the discussion area of westcliffe debating rules forum, that had nothing to do with any ongoing or proposed debates. it was a general discussion thread, that belonged elsewhere on forumgarden. spot's moderation of same, in my opinion, should implicitly have been limited to moderating *the debates* themselves, which is what moderation is for in such a forum. a general discussion thread should not be moderated for content by the westcliffe moderator, it should be left to admin, alone, as it always has been. the moderation of *discussion* within the westcliffe debating rules forum is an abuse of privilege and power by spot. an argument can be made that within spots sandbox, there should be no discussion threads whatsoever. as the *only* user-moderated forum on forumgarden, and with moderation set up specifically to be able to enforce the formal westcliffe debating rules *within debates*, editing/censoring user comments in a thread that didn't belong in that forum to begin with constitutes, again, abuse of power.

everybody who wants to give themselves credentials in a forum, let them have it, after all it's just a forum...
Maybe you have something valuable to add...then again, maybe not.

On the contrary and if you read my pm's then you would know that. When people pm me with gossip maligning others for this tripe or that trash it makes me uncomfortable. I either dont reply or I shift the conversation to another topic. So your sarcastic assumption is correct sir.
The clandestine groups have nothing to do with shared interests or the lofty goal of expanding ones horizons. It alienates the general well being of this forum in my opinion. It works to seperate not join. I can easily see another split once enough members decide to form their own forum and in turn they will take more members with them. Ive seen it happen.
I hope Im wrong and just being cynical because I love this place Tombstone. Let me rephrase that, I love the individuals that come here and share. FG is unique and my hope is it stays that way.
Im here every day and Ive not seen spam as an overwhelming problem but thats not my call.
By the way if you think Im feeling left out because of the groups thats not the case. Ive declined joinining because I see it as an unhealthy alternative to open discussion.
Sincerely, Brian

And Rapunzel? Did you happen to notice before these offending posts were removed or edited from that thread that Buttercup was also accused of maligning Jives? Maybe you should apologize to her for your comment here.
Have you been at the Christmas sherry already? I have no idea what buttercup has to do with this.
All I'm commenting on is this thread and these comments:
SnoozeControl;473359 wrote: He's already deleted one of my posts in another thread. Can we say abuse of power?
I've already PMd Tombstone about it. Everyone else should keep an eye on things to make sure this doesn't happen again. Mods aren't here to edit or delete established members' posts, they're here to 'patrol' for spammers and trolls.
SnoozeControl;473365 wrote: Because I happened to look at "who's online" and saw Spot with Moderating next to his name. It wasn't too hard to figure out it was him that deleted my post.
You're very quick to judge other people and jump to unfounded conclusions, imo.
I simply asked if you were prepared to apologise for these erroneous conclusions since your accusations have proved unfounded?
I guess I have my reply in that you tried to shift the onus onto me by insinuating that I owe Buttercup an apology although I have no idea why.
I simply wanted to see if you knew how to apologise. You demand them often enough. I wondered if you were big enough to give them out too. I guess not. Experiment solved.

speaking of bananas, here's something i posted just last night to the erstwhile 'discussion' area topic, so inappropriately started in the westcliffe debating rules area (as it had nothing to do with any past, present, or future westcliffe debates).
since the moderator of the westcliffe debating rules area chose to delete it, since it was an inappropriate post within an inappropriate topic within his inappropriately moderated forum, i figure posting it here where he has no such "powers" is appropriate. and since i don't name a single name in my post, there's absolutely nothing in the post to warrant its deletion. so there. nyah.

oh. right.

this thread is hilarious. jesus h. christ in a chicken basket with fries!
forumgarden has its very own Deputy Barney Fife!
thank goodness for the ignore function. otherwise i'd be subjected to the
pathetically narrow and boorish ranting of [deleted by Moderator] and his
sycophantic sidekick, [deleted by Moderator].
Well, [deleted by Moderator], you can go [deleted by Moderator] yourself for
all I care. During my tenure as a moderator I never came close to this sort
of bumbling, ham-handed moderation, not once. And I can prove it: someone
get me a banana, three bowling balls, and a nine volt battery. this won't
take but a minute, you'll see.
[deleted by Moderator] my [deleted by Moderator], you [deleted by Moderator]!
for those who may be unclear, *i* inserted the "[deleted by Moderator]" tags, just having a bit of fun at the expense of the pompous, arrogant, truculent, obsequious, pseudo-intellectual and pari-populist [deleted by...oh, never mind].

I think you owe the apology now, Repulsive. Do you have the spine to stand and admit your mistake?
