some people have the ability to partake in a heated discussion and come out the other end unscathed because they have respect for the other participants.

some people enter a heated discussion without restraint and it ends up in a slanging match.

I personally avoid the latter, some call it cowardice.... I call it 'self-preservation'. :D

I'd call it "wisdom" Bez! No need to get involved in heated unbridled flaming debates! Of which the end result just brings disention to the Garden!

On rare occasions in some heated debates, if I really feel strongly enough about something I would like to get across, I pick & choose my posted words very carefully (& read & reread it over several times for my intent) so as to avoid adding to, or further fuleing the conflict.

Instead of going to buy more chocs you don't like, you should be jumping in that completely opposite to mine vehicle of yours, and visiting me :driving:

They are not chocs, they are fondant creams, devoid of anything even remotely chocolate...I'll have you know (that should have gone at the beginning but I'm tired.)

And, as regards the car, Betty, it's not the opposite of yours, it's almost the same...I don't know, you're not with it today, are you? That should have gone...blah blah blah etc.)

Oops, off topic alert...at least I'm being honest

Sometimes I jump in as 'peacemaker' cars, but you can get caught in the 'crossfire' sometimes !

I did tell you at the time, Betty...apart from the fact that I was loathe to buy another ford because the after sales service wasn't very good at the local dealership, my kids have always had corsas until recently, my granddaughter currently has one, and when it was time to replace my old car, my son in law thought a corsa would be ideal, and economical, for me...I couldn't afford to go for the new design and the local dealership had just two left of the old design, both grey...:).

I think to answer your question honestly, I more or less say what I think, though I tend not to make it too personal, as I don't find getting personal with people I don't really now either useful or enjoyable. I naturally try and get one with everyone as much as I can, but I don't analyze why too much, its just my way I suppose. :)

I think I mostly speak my mind here.

There are definitely occasions, however, where I steer clear of certain threads.

I've learned that it's better to pick and choose the battles you are going to fight . . .

. . . because you can't win them all :-6

Do you avoid the thread?

In honesty there have been some threads i just have to avoid because if i was completely honest someone would take offence & its just not worth the outcry.

If thats true of you, what does that say about you? or me come to think about it

Please think about it before answering ;)
i've been trying to make the first thought that comes to mind after reading what the thread starter wrote, i don't worry about offending someone, if i do sorry, you'll get over it, we're all enttled to our opinions.
