Thankfully, none of these verbal squirmings and obfustications mean anything to us heathens.
According any and all organised religions/cults/money making opportunies, us heathens are bound for the bad fires anyway.
May I say Thank **** for that.

Note how the interviewer cuts up the leader's communication and was rather antagonistic towards him.
Talk about just seeing what you want to see. All Scientology has done with their attitude is confirm the impression people already have that they are a manipulative cult with something to hide. They had a chance to put their side of the question but refused unless they had final say on content. No journalist worth anything will allow that. There is a difference between a propaganda film and an investigative documentary as part of which you expect journalists to ask the organisation being investigated what their response is to the criticism. If they find that uncomfortable don't live in a free country where free speech is the norm.
I don't care what they do in America but this idea that you shouldn't be able to criticise a religion or cult or call their ideas ludicrous because they might find it offensive is a dangerous one we should not allow.

Try the Oxford english dictionary for a bit of expansion on the meaning.
• noun 1 a system of religious worship directed towards a particular figure or object. 2 a small religious group regarded as strange or as imposing excessive control over members. 3 something popular or fashionable among a particular section of society.
By either definition Scientology is a cult. Why do you have a problem being a member of a cult?
As for attacking you most of the posters have been trying to get you to talk about your beliefs but you refuse to do so resorting instead to fairly childish responses and then going away to sulk.

Perhaps you ought to click on the link below and view the whole interview and then decide for yourself. It's not for me to say what I believe but if you are intelligent enough, then you can make a decision on both points of view.
Like most people I am intelligent enough to make up my own mind. That the opinion differ from yours doesn't make you less intelligent than me. Scientologists may be intelligent but gullibility and intelligence can and do go hand in hand.
I'm afraid gmc, that as far as I'm concerned, you and many others like you are probably out there with your enemies trying to destroy anything good for mankind. I don't mind paying for what I have obtained in Scientology, it's made me a better and more ethical person. Before I came into Scientology I would abuse people's trust and use others, I didn't give a damn about you or anyone else in this world. In fact, I couldn't care whether I lived or died. If you're here to argue about paying to improve your life, then there are many other ways out there that may cost less but it would take you a lifetime, if at all, to achieve. My argument here is done with you. If you want to respond to this, well, I'm not interested but thanks for the time anyway.
Any belief system that is incapable of accepting that others might criticise it and teaches that the best response is paranoia is very hard to take seriously.
Taking the **** out if religion is a well established British tradition, one I think many Americans find hard to accept.
As to the numbers you use to back up your paranoia you will find that most of the long running discussions on this forum tend to involve just a few active participants, particularly the political and religious ones.
If you don't like being disagreed with don't post. Many people disagree with some of the things I come out with some may even think me an idiot. can't say I take it personally you shouldn't either.

It's 9 people who post on FG and care about the BBC enough to click on the topic title. Except for Richard everyone here is in the UK.

I would be surprised to be included in that eight to be honest - I queried logic, I did not attack your Church. I would also query your use of a pool of 6,718 members as a sample when the majority of those members have not been active in quite a while.
Looking back over the posts, I can see three posters who are actively antagonistic, eight who are mostly neutral and one actively supportive (Koan, having joined the discussion afterwards has not been included).
I can fully understand why you are so defensive but I don't think that most people are trying to get at you. :-6

The church only seeks out those who actively try to negate it and then we investigate them. The church has always found that at the bottom of every attack by a suppressive group lies misdemeanors. Many have been found to be drug dealers or worse still, paedophiles. I will always ignore anyone who attacks anything that does good because I have read many L Ron Hubbard scriptures to understand what really goes on with people who attack anything that helps man.
The more you say that kind of thing the more Scientology sound like a creepy cult that people should be wary of.
The Christian church call people who don't believe as they do heretics-come to that if ever have a christian revival you would be one of the targets for the fundamentalists. It would be fun watching scientologists taking on one of the christian fundamentalists churches in america.
If L Ron Hubbard's scriptures were that good he should have them on open sale. Personally I like a good look at a book before I buy it.
I have lived no cloistered life
and hold in contempt the
wise man who has not lived
and the scholar who will not share.
“There have been many wiser men than I,
but few have traveled as much road.
“I have seen life from the
top down and the bottom up.
I know how it looks both ways.
And I know there is wisdom
and there is hope.
L. Ron Hubbard
I actually agree with dear old L Ron. Especially the bit about holding in contempt the scholar that will not share-or is hypocrisy one of the words scientologists have changed the meaning of? Will I have to buy one of your dictionaries to find out?
