Hi Uncle Fester,

Thank you for updating us! When my mom started to lose her hair, she had me shave it all off and then she wore cute hats. She bought them from this company:http://www.headcovers.com/ and she really liked them. And she was never a hat person to begin with. Maybe Pat will find something there to help. My mom started collecting pretty pins to put on her hats and we'd arrange them according to her outfit. People started knowing her for her hats and pins which pleased her. :)

Getting home is a big step. Once she's past all this mayhem I hope you'll be able to drive her around and get her into the fresh air.

Just to let you know that today I had to do the hardest thing I have ever had to do , that was to shave off Pat's hair ( my god it hurt ) but there was a nice end to the day for the first time in a month Pat's face lit up with a big smile when the lady put her new wig on , it looks perfect :-4

First I would like to thank you all for your wonderful support , I know we have never met or never will do but I would be proud and honored to call you my friends :-4

Today I am wondering how much ***** can be thrown at one , I had to call an Ambulance late lat night to have Pat taken back to hospital , her temperature had spiked to the infamous 38 % C , she is OK today but has to stay in for 5 days , at the moment I am not her favorite person ;) but it had to be done ( thems were my orders from hospital) I don't think it will go as far as a divorce :-3 but if it does I told her she could have the dog :D

Unc, please try not to worry to much about the temperature, it is very common while going through treatments for that to happen, Pat knows that you are only looking after her and doing what is best for her :-4 You will probably be in for a few more shaky weeks but come Spring things will be on the up for you both :-4

I was pleased to read that she liked her wig, they are so good nowadays, my Mum has 2 and they are fab, a couple of people stopped to tell her how nice her hair looks, she thought that they was being funny to begin with, as she felt so paranoid about losing her hair, now she accepts all compliments with a big smile :-4

Was going to try to be reassuring about her high temp but Suzy beat me too it!!

Know from a friend whose son has cancer that the high temp/dash back to hospital thing is very common whilst going through treatment.

Something else I learnt recently is that it also quite common for blood clots to form if you have a line in for chemo. Again, treatable but keep an eye out for it - pain and numbness can be a sign.

I think of you both often and hope that all goes well.

(ps - next time I need a haircut can I send you the bus fare? :wah:)

Pat had great news today although she is feeling sick we have been told her Platelets have gone back to normal , they were 1 on Thursday , 43 on Monday and a whopping 168 today , first time they have been normal since before she was diagnosed,

On a light side the young female doctor who gave her the news had a waist that many ladies on here would kill for , Honest I was not perving :sneaky: on top of the good news she was the right one to give it :)

I'm so glad to hear her platelets are back up.

Take care of her, but most of all take care of yourself. Be there if she needs to talk or yell and hug her just because you can.

Oh, and always tell her how beautiful she is, no matter what.

I've never seen you, but you must be a beautiful man to care for her as deeply as you do.

Pat is still in hospital feeling pretty pi$$ed off , she woke during the night thinking that some thing was crawling down her arm , it was blood her canulars cap had come off , she called the nurse who put a new cap on , then some one fell down on the job , Pat got angry as she had to wait for over an hour before they cleaned her up and that was after she called them again ( we will forgive them this time ) My daughter has come down from Norfolk the early hours of yesterday morning and what did she do when she got here , she nagged me ,why , I had left my coat on the arm of the sofa :-5 , any way it is helping with the visiting with the two of them visiting as well , I can take it a little bit easy for a while , I don't even have cook for my self or do any washing or ironing so I will take the bit of nagging ;)

Not about Pat but about a young Muslim woman who has just been put on her ward ,not very good English but I feel so sad for her , up until a couple of months ago she was helping in Iraqi hospitals trying to work on people being blown up by the daily bombings , she then got political asylum in the UK , on Thursday she was diagnosed as having a tumor on the Aorta she has been put on immediate Chemo to try and shrink it before trying to remove it , she is scared and has no idea what is going on , she has had no visitors since she came in , the reason I am telling you is that no matter our religion , race or color we all hurt and bleed the same :-1

I hope the few extra hours rest boosted you Fester - it sounds like it might have helped. Do you get a chance to walk round the block now and then, blow some fresh air into your head? With any luck you'll be able to do more positive things soon rather than just frustratedly hovering so much.

Wonderful news. A slight leak to one of the valves is not uncommon and unlikely to be harmful. In all probability neither of you would have known about it but for her other problems.

May she continue to improve and be well for a long, long time.
