It doesn't matter which of these two get into office. They both have very similar ideas (or support them, anyway) and will grow the government far faster than the economy. I'm putting on my seatbelt and expect to be investing in commodities or cash more than anything.

After reading this wonderful post, and being so put off and discouraged at the other trashings of this woman that have been allowed on this board, it's virtually impossible for a Govn. Palin supporter to post anything without feeling they also will be trashed right along with her in this topic, which is why I won't post my opinion either... It's like going to a trash landfill or garbage dump to plant a flower, you know it will just be plowed under because it's being planted in the rubbish.................

What a biased negatively made topic in the first place, and what ugly replies...... You all should be ashamed of yourselves.... This woman has acomplished more in her life that ten of you ever will, and it just makes you mad.....:-5

This acomplished successfull server of the people of her state and country, mother of 5 children including a special needs child, pilot, hunter, and great American from top to bottom deserves more from this mean spirited group here.....

Personally I think she is a big enough girl to deal with what folks are throwing around, don't you?

But, I'm also getting kinda fed up with the 'including a special needs child' tag.. like it's something she decided to 'take on' and isn't that a great thing?? If that information is okay to use in press releases, so is the pregnant daughter and dui husband. LEAVE FAMILY OUT OF IT, ALREADY! That child's 'needs' is certainly nothing that qualifies her as a V.P.

Fact of the matter is, you should be ashamed of yourself... I think the 'little lady' can take the heat just fine. She'd better be able to take more then this if we have to expect her to be able to run the whole show...

This board is pretty much an equal opportunity bashing facility.. most of us don't like any of them overly much. I try not to let it raise my blood pressure.. just my sense of awareness..:-6

I like what i have read on Palin.she stands up for what she believes in..she reduced property taxes in alaska, reduced her own salary from the previous governor's pay, sold a jet that had been bought with government monies..for 2.1 million and put the money back to Alaska..because of her many actions..Alaska has a surplus budget..a thing almost unheard of in this day..she recently proposed to give back twelve hundred dollars to each household in Alaska to combat increasing costs of gas and heating costs. Altough not Govenor for long.she has made many changes.

Yeah, a lot of the image as her being a maverick is just marketing spin.

She liked the idea of the bridge to no where, till it became a national embarrassment and the fed turned off the money. But she happily kept part of the money. Perhaps it helped fund the some of those "refund" checks?

She was getting millions in pork from the federal government for her tiny town of wasilla (pop < 10,000). Left it with 20 million debt. She also helped secure money for Stevens, now indicted on corruptions charges . She's now under investigation herself for abuse of power, and it looks like most Alaskans think she is guilty, but don't care. Why would they? They got $3200 in checks (the upside to high gas prices).

Voting just for being able to secede? Not actually seceding? I'd vote for that in whatever state I was in. What good is loyalty (patriotism) if it's mandatory?

From my understanding, they want to secede. There's a similar movement in Hawaii.

From my understanding, every state has the right to secede. They want to exercise it.

Perhaps. I think I would give Obama serious consideration if he were running for governor instead of president. Most of his plans he published are state-level issues.

Most libertarians I talk to view the civil war as unconstitutional, and a federal abuse of power. I think the South could have seceded legally, but choose a violent route instead... being the hot-headed rednecks they were.

Obama gives big speeches. The president's role of ambassador falls far down the list behind more major jobs such as commander-in-chief, appointer of federal judges, and signer/vetoer of legislation. But to your point, ambassadors have to be effective in small groups, which is where McCain is more comfortable. And as for judgment , I trust a commander-in-chief who has been there and understands exactly what he's asking of his citizens, more than a Chicago machine politician.

Still, neither is good for America domestically, and our Constitution is in for yet more abuse and neglect.
