At yard sales I go right for purses and jewelry. One time my friend and I were looking through a mess of jewelry and this obnoxious old man grabbed it from our hands for himself. He was buying "dress-up" jewelry for his grandkid. Well we asked him nicely if he would set it down so we could all look at it and he was nasty so I grabbed the basket from his hand and said "Do you mind?!" I have a pretty good eye for jewelry and in the bottom of the basket there was a ring. I could tell it was something good so I sneaked it out of there and gave Mr. Nasty the basket of leftover plastic junk. I took my ring and other assorted junk jewelry to the two teenaged girls in charge of the money and they wanted a dime. I happily gave them the ten cents and we left. The ring turned out to be a 14K white gold wedding band with three diamond chips in it. Cost me forty bucks to get it made to fit but I call it my ten cent diamond ring.

looked up my Philco radio find. on E bay it is well worth my $7. it is a 1939.

Came across a Raggety Anne nightlight for my daughter years ago. Can't part with it as it's also made in the USA. Looks old.

We have sidewalk sales here. During the nice weather many people take things out to the sidewalk to sell them. They put up notices around on the light poles. It is nice to walk around to the different sales and see what you can find. I love doing this. The last sidewalk sale I happened across had some great stuff!!! My favorite was the lead crystal rose bowl...2 bucks!!! Can you believe that? It has a desing etched around the edge. It is beautiful.

Hit some yard sales this morning and got a computer chair for $4.00, enough fake ivy to decorate the top of my cabinets and probs yours SY for $5.00, a world globe (made in the USA) for a buck, an ornament set from Hallmark (never opened) for $2.00 and a candle accessorie with snowmen for $2.00.....and my greatest find was a Nintendo 64 set with the entire works (10 games, joy sticks & all the accessories for $3.00 plus the lady was selling where it was really shady and cold and gave my son a Nintendo Game Boy for free including 6 games. Thought he died and went to heaven.:wah:

Yeah, not like when they had Chevy Chase, etc. My brothers would throw parties at home when the p's were outta town and send me & my sister upstairs to watch it.

Oh yes, we had fun at the sales today. I also picked up a long basket with a sunflower on it and cleaned my kitchen today and put all my cookbooks in it. Perfect fit.

The Nintendo is going into storage till my daughter goes down the shore for the summer next year....told her about it, she was thrilled. Ya gotta go early girlfriend.:wah: I think we really lucked out with the weather as it was a bit cold this morning and we hit these sales and people were still setting up around 9am.

This morning I went online and got a memory card for the system for .68 cents and another game for it for $5.00

The yard sales are starting to wind down but the craft shows are picking up around here. Once I got a Farberware 3 quart pot w/lid for $5.00...they last forever.

I have yet to find a flea at a flea market

Was just reading the paper this morning and thrift stores are also making a killing.

i will go to antique stores and get the prices on things i would like to find. then start HUNTING at Rummage,church,and flea markets. Sometimes it takes a couple years. I am looking for a old claw foot bath tub. It took me 4 years to find a old wringer washer. but is worth the wait,. It was FREE.:wah:

When my hubs bought the house we live in which was built in 1916 it had the claw foot tub which is long gone now. They are really a hot item for people who like to fix up old houses. You better get some strong guys to help you with that tub SY, very heavy.

I had a booth at a antigue store, up to March of this year - with gas prices Shopping was real low and now I'm so glad I closed with everything so high...

I'm not looking for anything in particular right now

I will need a 1950's electric stove, excellent shape - I'll have it painted RED and actually use it in my kitchen .

On the news - Home Owner Assoc. are having such a influx of garage sales they're putting limits on the number of sales etc.. neighbor's complain on traffic etc..

Yeah, I'm going back out next weekend too. At a thrift store last year I picked up a really cool jewelry box for my daughter. $10.00 for that and sometimes I buy pictures if I like them.

I've always done Thrift Store since I collect unigue stuff & regular stuff.

My favorite store has all clothes 1/2 price every friday - cool...I find beautiful name brands..!

Some of our Thrift Stores are now holding Auctions within the store.

how it works: You fill out a appl. and your assigned a number.

The store has a section with items for the Auction. Each item has a catagory number, and is securely displayed,

the store has a binder with all items listed by the catagory number.

you use your assigned bidding number & date.

8 days and no other bidder that item is yours.

I received some stuff - it's a ridiculus game to some, they have to win, when the item is probably cheaper in a antique store..

with this Auction - it's difficult to find a treasure, since most are in the Auction.

It's good for the store - the $$ is donated to a variety of service's.

I still shop there - and look forward to alot of my friends I've met there.

Has anyone seen this - a site to trade ? I'll have to look it up, I'm going to apply for my '50's stove..
