As a very new member of Forum Garden i decided to make a very slow entrance. I figured that as there are members here with 5000, 8000, 10000 and more posts,

I as a very very new "recruit", should sort of ease my way in and try to avoid any controversial stuff.

However when i am confronted with this post then i have to make a stand.

Miss/Mrs/Ms Fuzzy Butt I am sure that as time goes by you and I will most likely become very good friends here, but in the interim I have only one thing to say to you and it is not my words but the words of fellow Australians of yours by name of Midnight Oil.

Don't know about my freedom but the last time an American force was sent to this country we had a serial killer on our hands ..........We've been blown up because we were confused with americans and once we were welcomed into any country including the communist ones without any problem but then America started calling us their friend (depending on whether we wanted to get stuck into THEIR war and threatening us with industrial and farming reprisals if we didn't ) and now nobody likes us .......with friends like that who needs enemies?

I was thinking of the way in which the US invariably wins in every Hollywood movie that ever got made, and how bad an effect that's had on US strategy in the real world. We could call it the John Wayne syndrome if you like.

I'm not sure quite who won in Panama but that was the only maybe-win I can bring to mind since you-all melted Nagasaki.

You see like everything else, every good movie needs a starting point. A Hollywood producer didn't just suddenly decide that Audie Murphy would look good hoisting the flag in Iwo Jima.

There had to be a basis to start from. (The Battle of Iwo Jima (February 19, 1945 –March 26, 1945), or Operation Detachment, was when the United States fought and captured the island of Iwo Jima from Japan, which produced some of the fiercest fighting in the Pacific Campaign of World War II.)

Call it the John Wayne syndrome, and don't many others countries wish that had such a syndrome to draw upon, but in terms of World War Two the records speak for themselves
